Personal Housing Complaint Thread

Since v1 they talk about personnal housing, they said they had a tons of ideas and were able to do a special add on for it if they really wanted to put everything. Several times, personnal housing was posponed for many reasons but they said there were working hard on it and will do their best for keeping their planning...

What have they done? Nothing cause all elements were already here for FC housing so why pospone personnal housing again and again for nothing? I don't understand.

Personnal housing could be great but they ruined this content aswell, it becomes borring.

The funny thing is FC housing was SE retrofitting personal housing to be something else as they didn't foresee the playerbase coming back for 2.0.

Before 2.0 was out everytime they showed off the housing zones they always called it personal housing and it's obvious when you realise how small 'small' houses actually were before the basement.

This is just a huge mess and it's amazing no one at SE thought it would be taken badly by the playerbase.

But this is horrid.

1. One of the ways a company loses my faith is by literally lying to me. WTF. LYING.
2. This is the exact contrary of making the game attractive to new people. Or anyone, really. I've already had friends drop out because the game offered NOTHING to them until they would finish the main story, and even after they would have to spend weeks and months saving up gil just so they can do what amounts to FLUFF. I have, at this point, no valid argument to attract my friends to the game.

I don't know what else to say. This shouldn't be happening.

You also have the wonderful issue of people who made Free Companies that have just 1 person in them just so they could have a house... who then turn around and buy a second one, leaving other people unable to buy a personal one.

I rarely ever come and post on these forums, but this time I have to. This is such a huge letdown. I'm just blown away by how far the ball was dropped. This is something Tanaka of 1.0 would pull.

Here are my reasons:
- Not enough plots, some servers have like 75,000 people on them and you are telling me there are enough plots for each of these people?
- Too expensive. 4mil minimum? Jesus man, I've been playing for a long time and I consider myself more hardcore than plenty of people and I have 1mil, I guarantee 99.9% of people will never be able to afford this.
- Extremely lazy. You just tacked this onto the FC housing system. Honestly, the amount of effort you guys put into this is so small it's sad. You developed nothing, you just let us claim a spot in FC housing areas. It took you this long to do that? Wow.

I'm just utterly disappointed. Complete and total letdown. Nothing else to say really.

Regarding Housing Plot Availability in Patch 2.38 and Beyond
They're going to work really hard on improving their systems, so hope to be able to double the plots by Patch 2.4. And that's exactly the problem. They need hundreds of wards and tens of thousands of plots, but they seem to think that simply doubling them would count as being "A large amount." They're totally clueless, and it makes no sense. They know how many characters there are per server. They have no excuse for not knowing that they'll need at least that many houses. (A few players won't want housing, but that's likely to be less than the number of FCs that want houses.)

Pricing is a bit of an issue (and one that's exacerbated by the earlier claims that it would be different), but that's minor in comparison. I've got half a million gil and can foresee being able to build that up to 4 million eventually. That'd be enough for a small house (which is really the size that makes the most sense for a personal house anyway). But I can't see ever being able to get access to a house plot, given how they're being handled. They sell out entirely before I can even have time to download the patch, and I'm sure the same will happen with 2.4 and any other update that adds a few more wards as though that would solve the issue.

Adding a few additional wards isn't going to fix the problems. They'd need hundreds of new wards, and it doesn't sound like their systems are ever going to be able to handle that. They should have re-designed a different type of housing system, probably fully instanced so houses only exist on the servers while the player is there. That would free up the space of all the houses for players currently offline or currently busy in other areas of the game, enabling a virtually limitless number of houses to be sold. Just give us a private little clearing big enough for a cottage and yard, and let everyone get one. The furnishings, gardening plots, stables, etc., can all be recycled from the FC housing wards, so none of those details need to be re-developed. Just give us a personal place to put them.

Since my current sub lasts 'til then, I guess I'll wait and see what 2.4 actually brings. If they change their mind about just uselessly doubling the wards and instead give us a REAL personal housing system, then I'll stay. Otherwise, it looks like the housing system has just killed ARR.

This is more or less about principle. The fact that the community was specifically told that personalized housing would be something everyone could enjoy at more reasonable cost. Many different players form the FFXIV community. You have your hardcore raiders, your role players, your people that are there for nothing more than to mingle with friends and to ostracize any group in the community is to say "that player's money is better than the others." We all pay a premium price for what's supposed to be a premium title. Don't get me wrong - I know the Dev team probably has their hands full with server space allocation issues, but the players pay them to deal with those problems so we don't have to. Every time there's heat after a major patch it's normally due to unfulfilled or broken promises. The people that are angry deserve to be. This is something they were looking forward to because they were told "Please look forward to it." As for me I played the game A LOT during the initial 9 months after release and then I took a break to do other things. For those of you guys that waited out the full year for a personal space I'm truly sorry. However, if you want your voice to be heard and for SE to understand that you pay for a premium product and expect premium results and not short cuts stop paying them. The game runs off of your subscription fees and when they see those dollars no longer rolling in at the rate they were they'll crack down and address the reason for it. It's a basic law of business and at the end of the day that's what this is for them: Business.

WHY is it every single time the exactly same thing with Square Enix since FFX?

Every single time I am looking forward, expecting a REAL simple thing they did perfectly before and every time I need to be very disappointed.

For example I am expecting a plain and simple chocolate cake.
They created the best chocolate cakes in town. Everyone loved them because no one else was able to create that tasteful cakes!
They say "NO! A chocolate cake is just not enough! Please look forward for the REAL big deal! Please be patient!"
After endless times of big promises I am finally looking forward for their big tasty chocolate cake and all I get is a tiny crumb.
They telling me "We are the big ones now. You can't have good things, because we have to create cakes for the entire world and please them all."

But is the world really happy with the new cakes?
