You can't get the items back anyways if you placed them in the house, they are tied to that house now.

Nah, once you set something down, if it can be retrieved, you can still take it back. Unless you mean you're unable to set them in another house, even if you're holding it in your inventory, in which case I can't confirm it you can still place them in another house. I've done it.
