I think some people just can't accept that newbies can and will be rude sometimes....not sure why. I'm not trying to take away the "victim card" from them, I'm simply saying they don't always have the right to play it. If they want to be treated nicely, they should also act nicely. It's not a one way street here. There's been lots of examples of newbies being mean in dungeons posted on this forum.

Also helps to be in a good free company, one that is filled with nice people who are willing to help not just in offering advice but also helping you complete quests and dungeons. That way if having hard time with something like parties or DF groups then you can rely on them to help you complete the place need to do.

From my own experience as a tank, having leveled mostly through dungeons and knowing them well, I will say that unless people in the FC need help or a random newbie asks for it, I don't run any of my roulettes as a tank, but rather my bard. The reason for this isn't the random new player (even new to the hard or expert dungeons -- I'm talking all new players from Sastasha to SV HM). The reason are the i100-110 people getting into a roulette like CC or SV NM or even Tam Tara and rushing through it, demanding a 'speed run' even when both other players besides myself and the Coil geared player are new. This has happened EVERY SINGLE TIME I've had a i90-i110 player or two in low level roulettes. I'll tell them we have new players who even state they want a complete run, and usually am ignored and a vote to kick the new player comes up, which I decline. Usually they don't bother trying to vote kick me and just complain the whole run, sometimes even attempting to pull for me to 'speed it up' (those people usually end up dead).

I'm all for speed runs when the group are all high level and obviously there for books or roulette, but new players feel so intimidated by the 'speed run now!' players that I think they even try to go with it when it just isn't possible given their gear/experience. So yes, in my own experience, it isn't the new players who are mean. It has been the high level endgame people who always demand or try to demand speed runs. I feel bad for new players like the OP -- and I'm seeing more and more players who just don't know they 'missed' a job quest and are still CNJ or Archer @35/40...tis sad, indeed.

It probably wouldn't be better to say accessories/jewelry. Keep in mind that this is probably the 1st mmorpg that people have played, so they may not know some jargon.

I've had your "don't tell me how to play my class" cases, but did you bother to check their search info? On my side, none of the cases were people leveling their first class, every time I got the "don't tell me how to play my class" line came either from someone leveling an alt class or someone who was already 50 and think they know everything there is to know.

This is vastly more honest and true rather than what Elim claims. As I said I have never had such an example which Elim gave coming from a new player, a low level class character does not make a new player, they might have level 50 other classes on that character and they are simply leveling a different class on that same character which is why I said never experienced this from new player...a new player as in someone leveling not just their first character but also first class on that first character.

It is a fact that it is mostly the older players, vets who are mean and rude in parties. Everyone knows this even amongst us older players we all know this except apparently you based on your original comment. Your not coming across as lazy, your coming across as misleading and applying misdirection trying to change that fact in favor of the older players despite the reality being contradictory of such a stance. None arguing with you claim there is no rude new players but in general they are a very rare exception and it is true that it is mostly older players who are the ones greifing, being abusive and rude in dungeon groups.

New players and veteran players can both be rude, defensive and jerks.
I have experienced both sides and attitude is not necessarily corelated by a persons knowledge and experience with the game.
Also not all new players and veteran players are jerks. The amount of either category of player being a jerk will vary depending on individual experience and which side of the coin (new/veteran) they themselves fall on.

So can we please put an end to this back and forth argument as it is hijacking this thread.
    Thank you.

I've had my ups and downs in the dungeons that's why most of the time I only run with my FC.
sometimes I just wish people would be honest and just say it directly if they're too tired to guide newbs (maybe they've been running the same dungeon for hours) or simply communicate what they'll do (whm saying I'll sleep other mobs, focus on one target at a time etc), instead of lashing out at the end or rage-quitting.

I'm pretty sure most newbs who ask for help can take criticism well, just be chill at least, no need to be rude. I'm lucky I got to join an active and very helpful FC while still a lowbie, but my first few PUGs made me avoid the DF like a plague for a long time.
