Thanks for all the ideas. It seems a wired connection will be the first thing I try. I guess it's just practice makes perfect after that.

On last page someone suggested using Manawall. While it does prevent the dmg AND knockback (iirc), you can only eat 2 of the dives. Meaning you can't rely on it if you are stacking in the pit with the rest. On my first kill, we had 2 mages on the right side, eating Dives with Manawall if they got targeted.
I main as White Mage and manawall/ward isn't a cross class action. I think it's just a "practice makes perfect" kind of thing. Of course, having a decent group would help.
ah ye just noticed on your profile "Main Class Thaumaturge" and forgot this was healing forumscarry on.
The best dps in my static has cleared T9 on a ps3. I originally learned and cleared T5 on ps3. Don't let anyone tell you it's too hard to do on an older console and don't let anyone let them use their console as an excuse either.
:/ It's sort of disappointing to see such able-ism in everyone shouting "ditch ps3 and upgrade", as if everyone can afford to spontaneously leave home and come back with a PS4 or high-end PC. I didn't upgrade from PS3 til last week and yes, everything has run as a smooth dream...but I never actually had issues with content on the PS3 outside of Odin and Behemoth. Every fight in the game ran totally fine on the PS3, despite how limiting it seems to be for some. There are probs other factors to consider alongside hardware.
Sadly, I have nothing to suggest, OP, but I felt like I had to speak up about the blatant able-ism. I know you can get through T5 on the PS3.
Try getting a SSD for your ps3 if that's an option, it helped a friend with titan hm in 2.0.
Keep trying, if anyone tells you it's impossible on PS3 don't listen you do not need a PC/PS4 nor do you need an SSD in order to clear T5. I main WHM and i cleared T1-T8 on a phat 60gb PS3 over a wi-fi connection so i know it's doable.
There are 2 things you can do that actually help a lot:
1) Turn off all battle effects because they are distracting and because they can delay the divebomb markers/sound so turn off all of em, it sucks i know but i had to do it.
2) You are a WHM you don't need TP so use sprint to dodge divebombs, if you use sprint at the right time it can last you long enough to dodge all 3 divebombs you just gotta get used to it.
As you just said a couple posts ago "practice makes perfect" so keep at it and you will beat T5 in no time.
It is kinda funny how people are so quick to point out the PS3. Ive run t5 a few times since i posted this. Even after taking everything everyone said and using it ingame, ive came up with the conclusion that "practice makes perfect" is the answer i was looking for. Not only for me, but for everyone else thats new that i seem to get partied with.
All the practice parties in the DF will eventually turn into a clear run.
