Escape from Castrum Centri Quest: Cannot target Magitek Field Generator

Steps:

1. During the "Escape from Castrum Centri Quest," in the room where your comrades are tied, defeat all the enemies to progress to the next area.

2. In the following area, the Magitek Vanguard H-1 is invulnerable until its shields are disabled. The quest requires the player to destroy the Magitek Field Generator.

3. The Magitek Field Generator enemy located at X:12 Y:16 has ??? displayed above it and cannot be targeted. The quest cannot be completed.

I've given this quest a go several times now with the same results of finding a guard around the field generator, clearing him, but not being able to target or damage the field generator. I also can only find one generator in the area, which is the one the guard is in front of. The field generator displays a ??? above it. Logging out and restarting the quest doesn't seem to change results.
