I prefer allocating points, though I don't mind combining that with static stat gains. I like being able to personalize my character, even if there end up being better 'builds'. I definitely don't like when race factors heavily into a characters stats though. Then you end up with certain races being noticeably better or worse at jobs, and it really just ends up limiting your character. You also end up with everyone rolling the same race for specific jobs and it makes the world less interesting. I don't wanna see something like "LF1M CON or THM NO roegadyn or elezen pls", or "lalafell LNC sucks, go switch to CON".

Seems to me though that the system Yoshida has planned will work well, keeping the feeling of customization while still giving the classes a sort of "stat identity".
