There is no logic in your statement whatsoever considering something like that can be said about many games. The current system has nothing to do with the Incense board from FFXII and I hope it never does, it just wouldn't work in the MMO imo (and I loved FFXII so its not that).

Try scratching a bit further than the superficial and you'll figure out that the entire concept is the same.

In fact, upon further consideration, leveling up in FFXII is much like raising your physical level in FFXIV, save that in FFXII, stat and HP/MP growth is automatic while in FFXIV you allocate your own bonuses. The license board system is the same horizontal leveling concept present in the different classes in FFXIV.
