You're thinking about this too hard. Do you have multiple hard drives on your PC?Thank you, Squa11_Leonhart, for your fast reply.
It appears I asked the question incorrectly, or that I failed to properly qualify my concerns.
No additional NTFS volume was mounted or made available to the installer DVD. The install from the DVD was to a pristine volume, and no attempt was contemplated or made to create any directories for FFXIV either before or after the DVD performed the install.
All directories and sub-directories were created entirely by the DVD installer software. As a user, I do not create the user folder, only the installer DVD can or should do that.
It will be most disappointing if Square Enix officially disallows the use of Parallels for Desktop or VMWare. Both are legitimate and powerful solutions for running Windows applications on a Mac without rebooting.
My [now elusive] goal is to use my purchased from Square Enix DVD to install onto a different drive or volume, and then remove FFXIV from the previously used IBM-PC NTFS physical drive on the same machine. I have 4 internal and 2 external drive bays, any of which can be booted from.
And so, toward that end, I should be asking either for a solution to my original query, or the official word as to whether or not Square Enix disallows the use of Parallels or VMWare. I will, of course, comply with the wishes of the Square Enix staff and their published policies.
Best wishes
Hi Joelvelez93,
Yes, I have up to 4 physical boot drives; [Mac Pro with 4 internal and 2 external physical drive bays].
I boot to NTFS/Windows 7 X4 via Apple "Boot Camp." So, I can boot a dedicated physical drive to IBM-PC/Windows 7 completely isolated from other drives.
I'm seeking to migrate FFXIV into a Parallels virtual machine to achieve the convenience of using the Macintosh system with Windows running in a window.
Thanks much
