I always had this idea for FFXI like the Wings of the Goddess expansion how they made you go into the past.

They would make a expansion that would start people over at level 1 max level 50 a fresh start once they go to this new land it was like time rewinded when the Lightbringer was pulled from its sheath.
Anyone who goes to the new land cannot use their old stuff even jobs at level 99 cannot exist because it never happened and in this land Altana is the Dawn Goddess is just now creating Vana'diel.

The jobs are different with different move sets and party based like the old days, no exp boosts nothing, the new jobs are old relics of the past that exist only back then.

Everything in the future is not allowed in the past because it wasn't created yet only reason people can come there is that time was distorted and people have to go on a new adventure to fix what is broken.
Meaning if you go back to Vana'diel of the future you can have your 99 jobs and do stuff from that time, though you cannot use existing things in the past and fresh new story.

Everyone starts new and tries to learn the new area's and new quest lands alliances that existed back when Vana'diel was created and the leaders were legendary people you only heard in tales.

Then when everyone gets used to the new stuff in the past at the same time change the future and erase events that never happened which you can re-fight battles but they change because you messed with the past, in other words if you beating missions in the past will change the future changing abyss, cop, treasures, seekers and wings of the goddess.

all the way up to the point where you fight the boss who unsheathed the lightbringer.
