FFXIV does not need to be like FFXI

You still haven't answered my question (Which was a real one, by the way). Suppose they create a server withtout anything post-Abyssea. What content would you do there that you haven't done already ?

I would guess SE doesn't even need to add new content because the current "classic" FFXI will be more than enough contents. It has notorious lock down that goes on for days and you can't solo any endgame so you are severely limited with the type of progress you can do. Dynamis would need at least 8-12 people, and Limbus has 3 days lock down. None of the Aht Ungat content can be solo as well on "classic FFXI". Since the main goal would be only to make your relic and mythic weapon and getting artifact +1 gears. This will ensure everyone is stuck in a hamster grind wheels for years.
