I don't know if I could ever get used to it though XD my character has been blond since 2010.

Thanks I don't get it though lol.

I was stuck on Kobald Brown many times while trying to get Soot Black. I almost gave up and stayed there because it looks so close to black.
I like the darker hair, perhaps try a darker shade of blonde to meet half-way and see how that looks.

^you could try an ashier, gray-ish blond and see how that works!

keep the body black and use a lighter color for the rest of it? The gold or a red would probably look nice, or if you can find a good, silvery shade of gray.

Not really a fan of doing your entire outfit in the same color; it looks much better if you have some contrast going on.

I'll give you another option to consider.

I think you should change the chocobo's armor (lack therof, specifically) instead of yours. It would breakup the solid soot color and alleviate all concern I think. Even just your GC's barding would help. Not to mention it would also aid in curbing the naked and defenseless chocobo epidemic going around, now that people would rather show off their feathers than keep them protected. :3

I would try the white top then dye the arms/legs to match the gold on the belt don't use that dark yellow though, it's sort of a punch in the face compared to the other gold accents on the top. Don't be afraid to try different color combinations. If you have to, get a color wheel. It will tell you what colors compliment each other.

I find a lot of people tend to get stuck in a rut where they HAVE to be one solid color. I find myself doing the same occasionally.

Oh, kobold brown does look nice. Sometimes, if you want to go dark and you don't want to go a full black you can just use similar dark colors. ^^

The darker hair does tie in the armor better but it is also up to you, we can work with the light colored hair- it may just take a bit longer. What is important is that you are happy with the results! ^^
As several people have suggested, try going maybe a darker blonde. That way you still get a darker hair color but you ares till within your comfort zone.

Also, experimenting with different bardings is a good idea, as Chione suggested.
Looking at a color wheel, as suggested by Linadae, is another good idea. It will give you a lot of visual information about which colors go well with one another.

I personally feel that if you clothe your chocobo, it will make things a lot nicer on the eyes. Any barding will do.

I think the black on black with any colour hair looks fine if you throw in a dash of colour with barding as others have mentioned. Just not Odin barding, something bright.
