[PC] Audio periodically mutes after changing settings

I just resubbed to the game and I changed my audio settings. Specifically, I raised the BGM from mute and lowered the SFX a bit. Since then, every so often these sounds will mute for a few seconds, with seemingly no pattern as to when it happens. I find it strange that it's only the settings I changed that have this problem; ambience stays normal, for example. Is this a known bug? Any workaround/fix? It's quite annoying.

I should also mention that I was unable to change these settings until I made FFXIV.cfg not read-only in windows. Dunno why it was read-only... the client couldn't stick any settings changes to it until I manually changed this.

Sound dipping is a feature of the operating system when sounds are played elsewhere for notifications from communication type apps.

No... this is only FF, other sounds do not duck. Also, it plays all the sounds that were supposed to play during the mute period at once at the end. The sound engine is certainly vomiting here, I just don't know how to fix it.

Upgrade your sound drivers, they are probably experiencing DPC latency.
