NA player to a JP server

Hi, been playing this for a month on a NA server. Joined Adamantoise because some old NA players from 11 plays there, but not much involvment with them.
A really good na/jp is coming back to the game with my old jp linkshell from 11, wanted to see how it is on masamune.


How are hunts? Lag?? Will there be much issues with dodging attacks and such? NA linkshells?

Go to Tonberry, a good portion of them are English speakers.

Ping servers on the NA datacenter (ping -t 199.91.189.33 -> Sargatanas) and JP datacenter (124.150.157.30 -> Aegis)

A ping of ~300ms or less is acceptable? 100ms or less will mean you won't feel any latency issues. More important is packet loss. 0% is what you want. This kills more people than latency.

Next, figure out the population at the times you'll be playing or just create a character on the server and see for yourself.

Tonberry & Masamune are the unofficial english servers (Masamune is the Legacy server) for the JP datacenters. Ton is about 2/3 EN, Masa is about 1/3.

Better to find friends first? Then go to their server? If you google around, you'll see a lot of complaints about Ton/Masa players (toxic behaviour, elitist... basically 'XBL traits') but if you are actually in the server, you may not see as much of that. The complaints are mostly about Ton/Masa players in DFs -> confirmation bias problem.

I personally find Masamune to be a great server i play on it myself and i'm from the UK. If you're looking for english communities i can point some of them out to you ^^. You will have some latency but if you're willing to deal with it you have a great time here : 3.

Masamune is either a great international server or a horrible one depending on your time zone. There is a decent english community there but its almost entire Aussy. So if your only playing during NA prime time you will struggle finding people on consistently.
