yeah the OP would be standing in that foggy "unofficial windower" ground that was with FFXI, SE said they always disapproved of it, because it could be potentially used for bigger cheats, but in my whole time of playing XI and using the windower (because this was way back when the official one didn't exist) I never was banned or even warned from any GM or STFU rep...I suggest just keeping quiet when you use it and count your Eorzean blessings.

Yea, if the OP had said he was using actual bot scripts, I would have /kill myself lol. But G15 keyboard macros.... Just keep it on the downlow .

A pure software macro program downloaded from the internet I can understand not using, because those can come with keyloggers or other trojans/viruses and get you hacked. I doubt a major company like Logitec would put or leave such things in their drivers.

By no means a bot can be illegal, and that had nothing to do with SE having the right of shuting down you account for using one. SE has the right to shut down you account for no reason anyway.

Hardware that can emulate this functionality falls outside enforceable scope of your agreement.

Software drivers that come with the device to allow the device's macro functionality fall into a gray area such as an XKeys USB product. I would recommend refraining their macro features in-game and contact Square Enix through their North American support website.

Please note, if you're macro software is reading game states or is using conditionals, it is in violation of the Terms of Service and you are proceeding at your own risk. I hope some of this information could be of use to you and others in a similar situation.

SE has not actually answered the question themselves or given any proper indication as to the answer with respect to the FFXIV terms of service.
Any advice on the matter you have received otherwise is simply speculation.

I have pressed the enter key so many times while crafting that I think I have carpal tunnel in my pinky finger. The only thing worse than 3-4 hrs of crafting was soloing doblyns pre-nerf.

I enjoy the end goal of crafting, but the experience along the way is certainly lacking I would agree. Leves are funish, but a mini-game or "standard" automation is in order for sure.

I personally enjoyed AION's crafting system. You could craft each part yourself, or you could do whole batch runs - the game supported it with its own automated queueing system. You could run a batch run, go cook yourself a pizza, and come right back to the computer and find your character idling with the batch in your inventory - or STILL working on it (depending on the complexity of the item's recipe). That was a lot more relaxing than the click-a-thon BS I had to put up with in XIV.

It's illegal, but SE doesn't care is a better way to put it. There are people "botting" right in the middle of Uldah, and have been for over a year. When people start having to pay money, that's when people will complain more, and SE will pay more attention to it then.
