I dont think I sold a single item to npc or on mb until I was lvl 50 (only sold a few things recently cause armory and retainers full). Not once was I close to running out of gil. My armor came from quests or occassionally cheap crap from npc. Gear was mostly irrelevant until higher levels. I spent gil on TP, but easily made pleanty from quests and later leves. Whether an NPC gives 1 gil or 50 gil for useless armor seems irrelevant.

    1. Gil acquisition isn't too terrible at low levels, to be honest. You can choose gil rewards from quests (the money bags sell for gil to NPCs), and there's plenty of those to go around til you hit 50. Or, you can claim gear rewards instead and be well equipped til 50. Either way, you won't need to have thousands of gil until then.

2+3. Forum posting rules are utter bull#@$%. Everyone's known it since they were added, and everyone's complained about it. SE seem content to bury their head in the sands about the matter however, so don't expect an official response unless someone literally holds Yoshi-P to ransom.

    4. Connection issues are something we've all encountered at times, but rarely happens frequently. I'd suggest ensuring you're using the right data centre for your server to minimize connectivity issues.

    1. What on earth are you spending your gil on to make you complain about gil at lower levels? I didn't even think about earning gil til I hit 50 with my first job, and by that time I had around 100k...from just leveling up. I was properly geared at all levels while leveling up as well. Sure, the game doesn't make it easy to make money until you have a few crafting jobs at 50, but at lower levels you don't even need gil for...anything. This game holds your hand and gives you gear for completing quests.

Edit: Teleports. I guess low levels use gil for teleports. I suppose that could be a problem if you're spamming the shit out of them, which is your fault entirely. Alternatively , just take chocobo porters.

    2. The forums limit is complete nonsense, I agree. I loath having to edit nearly every goddamn message that I type out, just to fit everything in one post and not clutter the thread.
"To limit clutter on the forums, let's keep it to 1,000 characters per post. That'll do it" -Somebody at SE, 2013

    4. This is something that was plaguing me about a month ago. I'd get 90k'd every 20 minutes or so. Luckily it resolved itself somehow, I haven't been DC'd for a while.

Sorry, I spent time and gil leveling and gearing my crafter. The things I make require materials and time. People exchange their gil for my materials and my time. The thing of it is, you can't sell items for a higher price than the market will bear. I check item history when listing things. If an item is selling for 10k, I'm going to list it for 10k; why would I list it for less, even if it's low level gear? That's just inviting someone to buy my item and relist it for a higher price. Honestly, most of the people paying 5-10k gil per piece for armor/weapons on the market are people that already have level 50's and are leveling up alts. Personally, I make my own gear to level in since I have all the DoH classes at 50. I also make gear for lower levels in my FC to help them level up faster.

I for one for most of my classes just went with the gear you get from quests or dungeon drops.
Could always ask a crafter to make you gear if you know any
Exactly. The gear given in the quests is fine to level in. Dungeon drops are even better. I disagree with you saying that crafters are taking advantage, though. Newbies aren't the only section of the playerbase that buy low-level gear.

Level 1-15: You don't need anything more than an appropriate level weapon. The game provides this for you through quests, and they're also very cheap to buy from NPC. If you also want some armor, you can either get it through quests, or just buy it from NPCs, again, very cheap at these levels. The game's quests reward you enough to afford it all.

Anything higher: You can gear through dungeon drops.

Don't need to use the market board at all.

By the time I hit 50 I had over 1 million gil. Most of your gil comes from quests. Don't buy gear at all unless you are actually having problems somehow (never experienced this). Generally using the stuff that drops in dungeons is more than sufficient for the leveling process. Aside from teleports, you don't need gil for anything until lvl 50 anyway. Take the money from quests, don't throw it away on grey rewards and worthless potions.

So like... play for 1 or 2 days, and then post. If you haven't barely played the game yet it's highly unlikely you have any valid opinions or complaints.

Agreed, but as others have pointed out, it can be bypassed. (like this post)

I'm in the USA and basically never have connection issues, that said, it's always great to have better connectivity. Don't equate "data servers" directly to an actual quantity of server resources available, they aren't directly related.

    You are full of crap.

90k error, stop and go lag, this has been happening for months now with no fix and its still happening, nothing wrong with my connection it's SE.

I can go play any other game perfect connection np FFXI np here in ffxiv problem.
I don't drop from other games except for FFXIV and its the main reason why I stopped playing the original FFXIV cause of so many problems.
But I am gonna stick to the game this time but this doesn't mean if this continues through few more years I don't see this game surviving.

Though if people keep playing even with the problems its because the game is very good which it is but some people get sick of dropping.

Do a tracert or pathping, it's pretty easy to figure out where it's going wrong. Do your research before pointing fingers, because Paruza isn't full of crap - and it's not the servers either.

On topic: If you really were running out of money before you hit 50, you're buying too much junk that you'll be replacing in likely a few hours of gameplay. My alt had at least 300k at 50 by just blasting through the main story. More than enough gear drops to go around.

Money isn't really a big issue, to be honest! You don't need to be buying a lot from crafters for a good portion of your early Eorzean career. Almost all of the sufficient gear can be bought from NPCs in the different settlements for much cheaper and.. hint! Once you get a retainer you can resell npc gear for a decent penny depending on what it is! While I have a legacy character and had a decent wallet leftover from 1.0, I made money reselling coral rings from the npc 10 steps from the market board. So check out the npc shops for your gear needs until you get a crafter/retainer, it's more than sufficient. Convert your gear. Run dungeons and use the loot. Join the grand companies and do the missions! Leves! Plenty of sources of gil
