Ideas on how they can fix these horrible PvP queues?

The past 2 weeks I have been in queue for pvp (all 5 i can select, all languages, in progress) for 5-6 hours before finally getting one level 30 wolves den queue pop which always ends up having 1 person cancel. Even Frontline's queue is atrocious..

I love to pvp in this game but the queue time are putting me off big time, any ideas on what they could do to fix the queues? Do you think they ever will attempt to fix them?

Sadly, I think you might just be on during the time with the least amount of people playing FFXIV A.K.A. the time SE schedules maintenance.

I know I have had the same problems as you so what I did was play 12 hours opposite from when they usually schedule maintenance and then I could easily play PvP.

If you play during peak hours and have this problem...then sorry for wasting your time.

I've actually checked into this, and in JP the pvp queues are not better. If anything they are worse. JP average wait time for MNK right now (10pm their time) is more than 30 minutes, whereas on our DC the queues are usually 10-20min average wait time at 10PM our time.

For Wolves Den queue: get rid off the matchmaking system.

Nothing will ever fix pvp ques unless they make pvp more rewarding. Ex:more mounts, minions, or anything that appeals to the pve players. What they should of done with frontlines, after you get your 100 win horse, you can buy items for it with wolf marks (make it expensive) so you can customize it.

I cant wait to see the official FF14 Census that will be release tomorrow (according to Japanse fourm). There should be a section for the GC distribution on the Frontline.

It's the matchmaking system which kills queues. MM tries to match similarly ranked players against each other for the sake of balance. However, the algorithm forces us to wait extended periods of time to find the right people, and if those people aren't found it would go with the players it would have picked right from the first search anyway. So if it's something like seven R40's queueing and one R30 all at the same time, the system will have found the R30 right away but can't plug him in. 5 minutes or so will pass and then it will pick him by default and the match will start. Same result

But consider that ranks vary widely and also consider that the system will try to balance each rank as individually before moving on to the next. What this means for us? Yesterday this meant a 220 minute queue for a 2 minute den match which I just left up while doing work/lunch etc. before I took a nap. Then on the weekend I had another 3 hour queue which (again) I didn't get to play.

Does this match ranking system you speak of happen in Frontlines as well, or only Wolves Den?

I ask because it certainly does seem like queues have gotten longer as I have ranked up. I'm at 38 now, 1/4 of the way to 39.
