Do you regret your name choice?

So I've been having some issues with my name lately. I'd barely hit 50 before I discovered what issues my name would cause.

And before anyone comments that I shouldn't have picked a name based on MLP (love it or hate it, I don't care.), the issue is with my last name, not the first.

I used Fleetflight because I used it for an OC of mine's name. What I never saw was people looking at my name and thinking it read as a certain male toy. This has led me to some very uncomfortable messages from people, especially when combined with the first. It's not really harassment, so it's not like I feel as if I should report them. I'd just like to avoid those messages in the first place because I find it uncomfortable.

I know there are many posts out there about this, but I think if more people gave the reason WHY they want to change it, it may garner some notice.

I do not regret my name. But if I ever wanted to change my race, which I don't, it'd be a problem.

Like, a male Roegadyn named Momomi Momi. I've actually seen a male Roegadyn with a female dunesfolk name before. Bet that person regrets it.

I changed from Seeker of the Sun to Keeper of the Moon and my name is no longer lore friendly. I want a change to remove the apostrophe :/

I'm aware of this method, but the issues with it are spending money to do two transfers, the first of which either makes you miss out on doing events with friends or making your character boring for the days before it allows you to change again. It depends what the cost would be if they had an actual name change option as well.

I believe when you're creating it, they tell you that you can't change it.

Anyone striking up a conversation, and causing ill feelings from it shouldn't be given merit anyway. While mine doesn't have the likeness of what you described, in XI I was Sholin, which is from a name I use basically anywhere in gaming, Sho-Lin. This was always misread/typed as Shaolin; that led to plenty of people saying how I spelled it wrong or started up conversations on stuff I had barely any clue on, even coming down to harassment sometimes. In the end I just blacklisted those who harass, and calmly corrected those who made an honest mistake as I preferred my name.

Come XIV, I get it again with choosing Lightsworn as my last name, which is apparently a mistranslated North American Yu-gi-oh deck that is called "Lightroad" originally (or so I was told). I still won't change my name though, as its how I see my character, and hey - I learned some stuff along the way lol.... <_<
