GP never existed in 1.0. We just had to deal with absurd RNG attached to a horrid minigame.

There was no GP during 1.0
RNG decided if a DoL skill get activated or not

Not everybody has fully melded rings. If it is your 1st DOL character, the ring is kinda useful to some extent. Of course not for already capped characters.
