A rant on the high allagan weapons drop system

each turn drops their respective number of tokens.
turn 1- 1, turn 2- 2, etc
clearing all 4 gets you 10 tokens a week.

accessories are 5 tokens a piece
head/hands/belt/feet are 10 tokens a piece
body/legs are 15 tokens a piece
weapons are 20 tokens a piece

total of 110 tokens to collect all drops
or 11 weeks of clearing all 4.
gear is still gated but no more relying on stupid rng that loves to drop things for jobs that arent even there.

My static has decided to start a book club.

6 SMN, 4 WHM, 2 MNK, 1 WAR, 1 PLD

6/8 have their weapons but then again 6/8 have SMN book.

The two of us left have our novus so it's not a huge deal just annoying.

I personally like the idea of Tokens, you could use a modified Version for all h.allg. drops, instead of item loot you can roll on tokens?

There has to be different Tokens, for duty finder that not everyone can roll "Need", e.g. Tank, P-DPS, M-DPS ... token

So that you can trade:
one token for a rnd item (Chosen from different pools; coil turn drop)
two tokens for a rnd item of a choosen class (e.g. WAR)
three tokens for a specified item

They put this already in with the hunting system, where you can trade 200 seals for a book and two / three books for oil /sand.

as a SCH I felt forced to complete my novus, 'cause the soldiery healing book is garbage. It still makes me rant non-stop tho', clearing the fight 14 times and still missing half of our party weapons.

Why would you be forced....? I had no issue with the Leviathan book until HA dropped. Yes, I healed T9 just fine with an i95 Book. Also, while Book of Diamonds has a "SINGLE" non optimal sub stat, it is a very minor part of the throughput you'd get from the mind and magic damage upgrades alone.

To reply your question: After clearing t9 the first 6-8 times with my twintania book (i95), I felt bad being the only member of the party with a sub 110 weapon, and so I decided to complete the Novus. And I probably did the right thing, since I'd be still using an i95 book now.

At first I thought, like you probably did, who cares novus? I'll eventually get HA. But after 14 clears I'm loosing my hopes.

I actually never though that I'd eventually get HA. I knew that if it didn't happen before 2.4 I'd either farm it after, or get Diamonds. People like to bash Diamonds as being utter trash, and in comparison it is a little worse... but very minimally so. Very minimally. It has good Piety, the only thing you have is Spell Speed. Changing that to crit, on a Novus for example, would do very little in the grand scheme of things.

I knew what my healing capabilities were with an i95 book. I knew I had 0 issues healing T9 and everything before it. I had no need to feel I had to get an i110(or better) upgrade before 2.4 hit.

No one is "forced" to do anything in this game, however I agree with the previous poster that had I not done my Novus originally, I'd have felt "forced" into doing it because I never anticipated garbage drop rates on t9 weapons for my group. Diamonds isn't THAT bad, but my mindset for making it to t9 was that I wanted the best gear in the game, so settling for third best weapon is silly when I know I can get something like Novus (eventually). I equate the work needed to obtain Novus and learning t9 for HA as on the same level, and I feel like they should be rewarded similarly.

Would anyone even think of doing Novus if you knew that you only had a chance at getting the weapon rather than a guarantee? Knowing that the majority of my group is going to go into 2.4 without a HA weapon sucks. Of course, we don't really know if they'll be "required" for the new coil, but it's mostly just a morale issue. I like what previous posters have said with 10x wins giving you a HA weapon of your choice. You put the time in, as it is with Novus, and your group should be rewarded as such.

In regards to you healing it with an i95, that's only because healer gear is largely insignificant when it comes to keeping the team up. If you were a dps or a tank, the group should be making a bigger issue about you using an i95 weapon.

I do not, at all, feel the work to get Novus and the work to get HA are in any way comparable. Not even close.

Also, you're right, being a healer it is largely insignificant. If it was an issue I would of gotten Diamonds. Not felt forced into a relic.

It would be nice to go to a token system or some way to make RNG less prevalent. My FC has only started doing Second Coil not too long ago and we have gotten 2 healer earrings (only one person needed) and 2 brd belts (no one wanted it) so that's essentially 3 "lost" pieces of gear and one entire week without any maningful reward for a group that still needs gear. Why should we be locked out if we don't want any of the crap that drops and my group doesn't improve in gear?

I'd also be more open to getting pug replacements in this case as right now there's always that feeling of "I don't want a pug to get this item because we probably won't see them or the drop ever again."
