The problem with end game raids is they are not about individual player skill its about the skill of the entire group because one person can wipe the entire group. OP is talking about making classes based on the potential of the class instead of the potential of the player. The classes/jobs are overly simplified and lack creativity, depth and complexity. The issue in MMO's is players connect to their character's progression more then they do end game raids and gear progression those are fluff when compared to the player's character. Final Fantasy XIV has to strike a balance with classes/jobs having the right amount of complexity and depth to make them fun to play while streamlining them enough for casual players to learn to play them.

With the right amount of complexity Final Fantasy XIV can go from being a game where many players log in to just Raid to a game where players play as their main game because it's fun overall. Adding complexity to the Class/Job system will add longevity to the game instead of the constant revolving door where players un sub for 2 mos and wait for the next patch.
