Would it be possible to have a spectator mode for raids?

I was thinking that it might be beneficial to have a spectator mode that lets people outside the eight man raid group watch the group do its thing, provided that raid groups can opt out of it (or specify only certain individuals) and there is a limit on the number of people spectating.

It might be a useful feature given that some raiders might have people who are sick and cannot attend, but may want to watch. Others may join to learn how to beat the boss or play their role during the encounter. And yet others might offer to record the fight, thus freeing the current raid team from the burden of doing so itself.

This would be a nice alternative to streaming for those who don't know how/have the tools for it. Perhaps it can be turned around and used by more experienced raiders to give tips to those trying to learn as well.

I spoke a few times about something like this to a friend of mine. The learning applications would be endless. Sadly though, I'm pretty sure this would put more stress on the instance servers than SE would like. Knowing that SE has no intentions of upgrading their hardware just to implement a cool and helpful feature, I don't see it ever happening.

Assuming people can NOT use the spectator mode to cheat in PvP/frontlines, spectator mode should not require hardware upgrade nor significantly add to server load.

The rendering and display of all the stuff should be done locally on players own machine, all that needs to communicated it player position data and damage. And given the existing MMO open world infracstructure already in place, sending this data is no different then sending all the FATE or hunt data needed in open world. Perhaps all it need to require is for players to go to their FC house and use the FC unlockable viewing orb something to view the link their FC friend sent them. So the player in combat can set a checkbox stream to FC viewing orb. And any number of the FC member can choose to watch from a selection of streams.
