whats up with the rmt all the sudden?

Basically since the Chinese launch of ARR (surprise surprise) not only have the rmt been back and spamming /tells at an annoying rate again, now they are sending friend requests along with the spam /tell. Is there a reason they are doing this outside of adding an additional step to blacklisting/reporting them?

Never had this issue in other games or before.

I've noticed a LOT more RMT spam as well lately. The other day someone posted a screencap of a newly created character, still in the opening cutscene getting a Friend Request from "Sasjdklajl Ajdklgfv" that made me laugh.

Apparently SE can't figure out how to stop people from spamming tells like most other MMO's have figured out.

I'll tell you why you are seeing so many....Ask your friends if they are going to have enough gil to buy the house that they want....When they say "No, but I will." then you will understand why you are seeing a rise.

? I'm curious as to what the other games use as an anti-RMT system. I know you still get /1, /2, corpse, and occasionally /w RMT ads in games like WoW. Unless you mean the "Report Spam" function, of which it doesn't "stop" them from doing it.

Some games limit you from /t people until you reach lvl 10, some put a cap on how many /t you can send in a given period of time, some have a "Block and Report" option that could flag an account for further review. SE didn't have even an option to add to black list last year, you had to copy-and-paste to your black list then remove the inexplicable space at the end of the name. SE seems slow on the uptake in this area, and some people allege it lets them sell more games.

RMT tells are annoying as heck and I report everyone of them.

But I also look on the bright side. There are new players and a growing player base, and I think everyone likes that. It is just a bummer that the RMT also looks at that and see "$$".

cactuar is getting out of hand again.
there are FCs full of BLMs that spam WD all together over and over.
i wish SE would hire me. i might as well get paid for spotting/finding/reporting bots!

all of these function are currently in the game lol, sept for block/report, you have to block an then report but same thing. as for the /tells until a certain lv they added that not long ago, an they adjusted the amount of tells that can be sent at any given time, and they constantly adjust what phrases are blocked from typing at all, such as words like cashmoneyrmt.com or some crap like that. but to say they are doing nothing is pretty ignorant as they post what they do to combat them monthly. if you know so much about combating rmt then you would know its a never ending battle. SE does one thing to slow them down, they search for a new work-around, the cycle continues.
