    Should crafting follow the ffxi design?

    I would've used another thread, but found it to be misleading.

    This is about discussion of leveling crafting for future level cap increases.

    Should it follow the ffxi design: which after a certain lvl (50 at least) you will need "mastery" required to completely synth the higher items and progress further in the craft. As in, you can get all crafts to 50, but only one craft to its maximum level, whatever that is.

    Like this post if you prefer it or a system similar, such as a key item being required for more advanced synths than recommended, on that can't simply be quested.

    Regardless, this thread is open to discussion on how to keep the value of crafters as the level cap increases and the economy takes on new demands.

    I like ff14's crafting better tbh. I just don't like trying to figure out which synths are best for primary or off-hand tools. Also, 60min guild support ftw ^^

    Hmm, the way of crafting is fine, how would crafting to max level be approached, from a player and economic standpoint?

    Suppose the game had a cap of 75 or 100, should the leveling system of crafts change in response to this?

    I like restrictions set, but I think 1 craft is too restricting. I'd prefer it be restricted to two or three (as others have also suggested). But yes, I do think there should be restrictions on how many you can "specialize" in and to what extent. I'm not going to use FFXI as an example because I don't care how they do it whether it's via some sort of advanced mastery system or level caps.

    Yea I thought 2 or 3 would be good too, but probably just 2. Will help with player interactions in the crafting community.

    I think it should. but I would like for at least 2 crafts to be able to master. Unless they dis-count cullinarian and let everyone go as high as they want with that one.

    I suggested this a while back, but responses favored wanting to be self-sufficient for life. My Idea tho was to let everyone still rank everything to max and whatnot, but mastery's will allow you to craft things a regular crafter couldn't in that class, Like BSM will be able to make certain rare weapon parts/weapons If the player decided to make it his/her mastery.

    The point is in FFXi people still had every craft maxed IF they wanted to do it, for a fee per mule.
    The only difference with ffxiv is that you dont have to pay that fee.

    People like paying more money apparently.
