Payment Method Registration Errors

I just wish I could get confirmation that yes, this issue has been forwarded onto the developers. The few times I have contacted support to try and get this fixed they say they will pass the info onto the technical team, but there's just silence.

I had this annoying problem for months ever since moving out of the states but trying to pay with the same card. Best part is even after contacting SE about it they pretty much tell you it's like that to prevent fraudulent charges to your card from overseas....even if you verify that it's YOU trying to pay your sub(oh gee thanks SE for KEEPING ME FROM SCAMMING MYSELF BY PAYING MY OWN SUB).

I was finally able to ge tpast this by using the hola better internet extension(I use it on google chrome), and it works just fine now. Good luck op!

I'm in Australia and I can't see any option other than using a credit or debit card to pay for a subscription... Why is this happening? I've been subscribed since pre-launch plus 6 years of FFXI... Ugh.

Just buy a prepaid visa card, it worked in 1 go for me when i did the
Purchase crysta-> use visa payment option-> enter the card number/ security 3 digit #-> proceed to payment= Success!
No errors and it was pretty simple.

And since its a prepaid visa i got at the bank, i won't get charged for failed attempts i think as its treated like a gift card and is not directly tied to my account

I bought a Load&Go VISA from Australia Post - it fixed the problem for me.
I did not use it to buy Crysta though... I just used the card to pay for the subscription + retainers.


I have been paying SE with the same CC for years on 2 accounts, only this account received a 406 error - of which Customer service did NOTHING to fix.

They told me after 4 days that my Credit card had insufficient funds. I told them that is incorrect, it had plenty of funds.I received a general CS BS reply.

I have had the same thing happen to me, been over a week now and support was not very helpful at all.
Thankfully i believe i have resolved it today. I miss the fc members

Here is some information about those errors from a programmer's view. I am not really defending SE, just giving the rest of you a little bit more information based on personal experience with these kinds of errors in general.

The errors that are being tossed out tells their computers that the bank is declining the card even though it is not. This makes the error really hard to track since mixed into people getting the error in the wrong, there are the cards that the banks are really declining. The invisible lock out is actually common to use in online payment processing because when it is working properly, it protects the legitimate holder of the card in the event that the card being used was reported lost or stolen.
The error seems to be fairly random with who will get an error and when. (For example, my husband just got a subscription three days ago, but my other friend is getting errors.)
I hope that just a little bit of extra information at least helps a teeny bit.
