How to start working on the hunt?

So after leveling several classes to max level, i decided to work on my gear. I've heard from my FC that Hunting is currently the fastest way of getting gear but i have no idea where to start.

you want to find a good hunt LS to start and watch that and the area that ur in for shouts as people will yell out the cords you just run to them wait till its pulled and hit it as many time as you can, also you will want to be in a party as well so if ur solo just yell out for a invite so you can get as much of the full creidt as you can.

you can also go to your GC and get hunting marks ang get more of a reword for killing that hunt mob

Here's a good link too, select your server and look at the timers, when the monster is killed you click at the mob to say it was killed, when enough people do that the timer resets. Not sure if you did the quest, need max rank in the GC. That will unlock daily and weekly hunts, but you still can do the A and S hunts without having that.

It's for most of the time, it depends on the people that use it so it might not work that well for your server, as I said the timer is entirely decided by the number of people that click the button "killed" when the monster dies.

i have no idea where to start.

1) use ffxivhunt.com to choose a time when several a-rank targets (hunters says "window open") are still alive and some more will respawn in 5-10-30 minutes
2) periodically check PF for hunt parties (they will appear and disappear there very quickly) and join to one of them. w/o party you will get partial prize only
3) ask where to patrol. monitor messages with found found hunt coords and be ready to jump there as fast as possible and to stupid run to the place

Is that not a site that uses a radar program? Or just people that report in when hunts showed up, died, etc.
Agreed, find a good hunting ls, sometimes there are even groups up in party finder for hunts.

The latter. It's explained right on the site (once you choose a server):

How it works:
Every player is able to report kills, by simply clicking on the corresponding button. As soon as a kill gets enough clicks the system will aknoledge it, the window will close and the timer starts anew.

Since I didn't see this mentioned yet... one of the hunt NPCs in your GC is where you buy the gear from, using allied seals. Hunts also drop pretty generous amounts of mythology tomes, so you can supplement that by going to Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona and buying some i90 gear there. Both places sell the exact same gear, the only difference is the tokens they take (and the hunt NPC really doesn't need many seals at all). Good luck!
