I'm leveling a second character so I can get more insight on the story. I read most of it on my first character, but I skipped so much due to fear of being kicked from groups, plus there are things you miss out on the first time. Start in a different city and learn more about it.
I swear I am getting dejavu...oh yeah, I saw threads like this last year. And its funny, coz people said "IT HASNT EVEN BEEN OUT THAT LONG!!!" well, now its a year and still seeing the SAME threads. I am like you OP...except I don't log in at all. They need more useful items in this game, this game filled with too much vanity stuff that is harder to get then raid gear for some reason. IDK why there is only one end game raid...ugh. So boring.I'm at the end of my tether with this game now in all fairness and really looking for advice on what to do in this game more regularly.
My daily routine is dailies followed by expert roulette and then I log out. Twice a week I go into Coil and clear it and then I log out.
What exactly is there to do?
Frontlines
Make some friends
Make your own adventures
Man I remember when I was a kid I'd kill for such a big open world type place with all these diffirent people from all over the world I can talk to and do stuff with.
Now it seems to be about that carrot on a stick, gotta have that carrot
Sometimes I wonder if the new generation of gamers are humans or donkeys
Depends on what you consider fun!
When I get bored I collect stuff to craft food. And my rule is that I musnt use teleport. So I'll have to plan my route. Adding a little roleplaying to it (my fc members think im stupid when Im asking "is it too late to visit the market in linsa")
But if you only like doing dungeons then maybe this isnt the game for you
The thing with wanting to do “fun things” is that the definition of “fun” varies from person to person. We as players, but also the developers, don’t expect you to consider every aspect of the game to be fun. It’s just a matter of taste.
The problem with making a MMO, is that you want to attract a large group of people to your game. In order to do so, you need to create content to please as many of the player base as you possibly can. I believe that’s what SE is doing right now. Adding new things for the players to play with, while trying to keep as many players happy as they can with their current resources.
If you make a list of all the features/content the game had at the 2.0 launch, compared to the features/content we have right now, you can see that SE has focused mostly on implementing new features and QoL improvements rather than “content”.
The reason i say “content” between quotes, is because we did get a fair amount of content (like Main Story Quests, Side Quests, Crystal Tower “Tiers”, Coil Turns and Dungeons), but to be completely honest its “only” a “fair amount of content”. If you, as a player, aren’t interested in the Crafting/Gathering/Relic farming side and want to focus on Raiding, then there isn’t much for you to do between patches.
Even if you are into Crafting/Gathering/Relic farming, the content which has been implemented in the recent patches are very very time consuming. To the point that a lot of people who were interested in it are just saying “F* this...” and leave it at that.
As we speak, SE is about to release patch 2.38 (next tuesday) and 2.4 not too long after that. Patch 2.4 will add another set of Binding Coil of Bahamut Turns, Main Story Quests, Side Quests, another Primal and more.
Next to that, SE is also working on content for patch 2.5 and the game’s first Expansion pack, so we will get more content. I’m not worried about that.
We need to “find something to do” till then. Which brings me to the following…
Jon, you said that your daily routine is doing the Dailies and an Expert Roulette and then you log out for the day. But, what about the people within your Company / Friends List? Do they do the same? Or do they have other things with which you could help out?
The reason i say this is that in my personal situation, i find myself helping out my friends with their Dungeons, Treasure Maps, etc a lot. And i really mean… A lot. I’m perfectly fine with that and it really fills up my daily schedule to a point where i have to say “No” because i barely have time left to finish the Daily Hunt Mark bills for that day.
You also said that you might be interested in doing some PvP. I’d say, give it a go. You might like it. (^_^ )
Also (and this question is for everyone in this thread), let me ask you this:
If a developer would ask you, straight in the face, “What would you like to do in this game? What kind of content do you want us to create?”. What would you say?
Please describe your answer with more words than just “More raids”. Be more specific. Throw in idea’s, themes, scenarios, things you liked from other game that could be converted to something Final Fantasy-esque.
What i want to say, before i actually press the submit button, is that developing a MMO game is not something to be taking lightly. There is a massive amount of work to be done in order to get it up to a certain level.
We all know what happened with FFXIV when it first launched and the things the FFXIV team has done to turn it around and give us the game it is right now. If you haven’t, i would suggest you read the Developer Messages a watch the GDC Presentation Naoki Yoshida has given. Just to get good impression what they had to do to get the game this far.
I personally believe that the FFXIV is still in the process of growing. As it grows, more resources will come available for it and more content can be created for its fans.
If we, as it’s player base, keep supporting this game and supplying them with our wishes and idea’s, then they have something to work with.
You can level all your crafters at once - this way you literally don't need to buy anything except low level materials from guild vendors/fc vendors/residental area vendors. By multiclass levelling you craft all the gear needed for all your jobs, you can only have 1 clothing set for all your crafts and you make ton of gil selling leftovers and converting spiritbonded crafting gear to materia.Fun is in the title.
Honestly all the tasks in this game are very mundane. You either need to do them all every day to unlock rewards, or run things once a week like ST.
As for crafting, don't get me started please... Crafting is AWFUL, it's a broken system where you need to actually level all crafts up to get all the skills required to craft high level things, that's not fun.
I've cleared T9 and I'm i110, I'm finding no joy in the game.
I agree that levelling up single crafting job is not fun, especially if all you do is craft 100 ingots till you fall asleep but levelling up all jobs together is much easier, faster and grants profit.
Actually that's what all MMO's are missing these days.I'm at the end of my tether with this game now in all fairness and really looking for advice on what to do in this game more regularly.
My daily routine is dailies followed by expert roulette and then I log out. Twice a week I go into Coil and clear it and then I log out.

Though you just have to wait man golden saucer is coming soon, I mean I do know what you mean i wish MMO's had stuff for fun like in chrono trigger beer drinking contest or fighting the robo or hitting a hammer bell or swapping.
instead of contest on a forums board or twitter would much rather have them done on a game at least everyone would have fun doing them win or lose.
i have no clue why Fervid felt the need to post the OP classes so he dose not have everything max out and? not everyone needs to lvl up every class and or job and some ppl just don't have the time :P
