Dumb question about chat

Hey I just switched from using a pad to mouse/keyboard and I've been running into a problem.

I use a million macros (kind of had to on pad), which usually start with a /
It is totally possible to start chatting by hitting /s or /a or so on.

So if I'm moving around kiting or something, and I hit a macro, and a, or s, or so on at the same time, it'll start opening a chat window and I start seeing myself typing 1111sssssaaaaa22222 and so on while my char stands there like an idiot and doesn't do anything!

Any way to make this not happen? Any way to make it so that I HAVE to press Enter to open the chat window?

Character Config > General > turn off Direct Chat

Edit: Not just Enter. The / key will also open your chat bar, as well as the chat shortcut keys (e.g. alt+p for party).

See that's still my problem here. Direct chat is definitely disabled, but I'm hitting the / key constantly and if I hit /s then it'll start chatting. If I hit a macro and s at the same time, it will start chatting 100% of the time.

Ah, sorry, misunderstood.

I've never seen macros cause the chat bar to get focus, but I've never tried to make it happen, either. Is it with every macro you've got, or just specific ones?

The only time I've had the chat bar pop up on me without my consent is when I reinstalled and forgot to turn off the default chat binds. Specifically, alt+s and alt+a, trying to move while activating skills on alt+something.

lol for various reasons my macros do include alt+s and such... that explains it
