    Requirement for Coil Not needed for Expansion But...

    Will it be needed for a future expansion? If so, will you be toning down Turn 5 for that specific expansion? If not, what will you do when hundreds of people don't buy the expansion that requires it due to them not being able to complete Turn 5? :V

    Just want to make sure about this before I continue subscribing to FFXIV past the first expansion. I cannot and will not do Turn 5 if it stays as hard as it is now.

    The Binding Coil of Bahamut overall is seen as a 'seperate' raid.

    You won't need to complete ANY turns of BCoB in-order to do new expansion raid content (as far as we've been told, they haven't change their minds on this). As per the games approach on making old content redundant.

    EDIT:

    I didn't read your whole post.

    If you can't beat Turn 5, you're going to have huge problems with any new raid content being added.
    Turn 5 is VERY easy compared to the The Second Coil of Bahamut.

    Turn 5 was one of the development teams first attempts at making an end-game raid boss-fight and that's the NERFED version of the original fight. I'm not talking Turn 5 twisters patch. I'm talking the original development teams

    Or if that answer doesn't suit then consider the following;

    But they DID just release an easy-mode Coil for you, specifically.

    - Go to www.youtube.com
    - Type into the search bar: "FFXIV Turn 5 kill BLM perspective w/cutscenes"
    - Get an old mouse/keyboard or controller and make sure that they are disconnected from your computer or playstation
    - Hit "Play" and "Full-screen"
    - Go ahead and press the buttons as you normally would, the game will correct your errors for you.

    You expected the learn the timing/mechanics and then beat the final boss-fight of the first set of raids, in three tries?

    /laugh

    I don't recommend raiding until you have the patience to learn and adjust to the mechanics

    Content locks have (so far) only blocked later progression of that same content.

    CT -> ST
    Coil 1 -> Coil 2
    Levi/Mog -> Ramuh

    Since Coil ends before the expansion, I can't imagine them requiring coil for any content going forward. Plus, all locks basically become void once the content is added to the duty finder so it's never that big of an issue to begin with.

    Always remember the Silver Rule:
    "Treat others as they treat you!" ...or something like that.

    Melusine and Nael maybe, but I beat Rafflesia as the off-tank the first instance I ever set foot in T6. Without a VoIP program either. (Instance as in "we wiped a few times but did not leave between first entry and killing the boss"). And while I haven't got there yet (Melusine's first set of adds are hell on earth to tank) my Legacy friends who're -way- ahead of me consider T8 so easy that when I brought it up they referred to it as "free loot". Comparatively it took me -months- to finally clear Twintania as WHM/SCH. Even with the Echo I'd rate her as the third-toughest boss in the game, or even second-toughest, after Nael and possibly Melusine.

    You can kill Echo'd Twintania with 4 people. I wouldn't rank that as the 3rd hardest boss personally.

    And in case you don't believe me:

    It's not exactly an easy fight to someone new to it, but the mechanics are fairly easy to learn.

    Most parties originally struggled with it mainly due to their gear or not knowing their jobs properly.

    Others just struggle with mechanics, but to Rank T5 as a "truly difficult boss fight" is laughable at best.

    What you learnt from Twin carries over to SCoB. In fact, for us, Turn 9 took us the least amount of tries overal, compared to 6-8 to clear. Due to what we had learnt from previous turns. Most of T9 mechanics are a variation of mechanics from previous turns, including BCoB.

    The OPs post makes no sense Main story and side storys (aka Coil and CT) will end with 2.5. Expansion will be a totally new main story with new zones and new end game content. Coil itself will end with 2.4 and the final BCoB.

    off topic: I think would be fun if they did a "Hard Mode" of the three coils set at the expacs new max level, with new mechanics. As an optional raid. Even if the rewards are slightly lower Ilvl than the new raid/s. Minimal dev time to create additional end-game content and allow new players with the xpac to actually run coil, as with level cap raise, no-one will be running them.

    a lot of your "too difficult" complaints come from the fact that you dont know the fight and havent been in a group good enough to clear, and if your using DF and getting a party full of randoms, thats your biggest problem.

    not trying to say you suck, but it might not be that its too hard as a raid, but that its too hard to learn the phases because everyone quits too fast.

    I'm sorry if I'm incapable of finding a static that will take a newbie for a one-time run so I never do it again. I just don't like people who stonewall others by forcing them to watch a video or read a text guide. I'm also not keen on big FCs / Guild, especially with the voice chat requirement and website sign-up requirement, usually. Some FCs also advertise they aren't hardcore, when they actually are as well, which upsets me.

So on top of the echo you will probably have an additional 10~15% HP on top of the echo (which I believe is sitting at 25% right now). I really dont see what you want them to do? Are you after just walking in and the boss killing itself? As far as coil 2 goes... I have done coil 2 one time, my first and only time I went as a WHM and I did T6-8 and learned a bit of T9. I will probably eventually try to do it some more but I am not sure yet as I dont consider myself a raider.
    On Ragnarok, people ask if you're new to Coil, and if you've seen videos / etc. They will immediately kick no matter what if you haven't. I've watched a video twice, and read a text guide, but I've forgotten about half of the fight within just a few hours. I'm not going to bother to try and queue or find a static / etc. (I've even set my search information to say I won't do turn 5 or beyond ever.)

    Have you tried asking people you actually know... my friends and FC have taken plenty of people through their first time T5. If noones willing to help you maybe its time to make new friends. You dont need a static for 2nd coil let alone T5.
