Need Advice on DoL and DoH lvling

Hi all, I was hoping to get some advice on DoL and DoH lvling. I quit back in 2.1 and just came back last week and decided to start lvling up some crafting class because of the new stuff they added.

Currently I have Carpenter @ lvl 10, Weaver @ lvl 20, Culinarian @ lvl 5, Botanist @ lvl 19, Miner @ lvl 12, and Fisher @ lvl 7. I'm thinking of picking up Leatherworker to help support my other class as well. My question is, should I focus on lvling up a single class to lvl 50, or should I lvl them up at the same time? Also, if I should lvl up a single class to 50 first, should that class be a DoH or DoL? Thanks in advance!

I would recommend your choice of DoL to 50 first before getting into DoH. Your DoL can help support your DoH financially. And while DoL is a quest is tedious repetition, just get some kickass music, a good TV show, a well-written book, or talk to your friends. I actually managed to get excited when I leveled miner.

I would not recommend leveling everything at the same time. At least for me, it makes me feel like I'm getting nowhere and I get bored. Pick one, take it to 50, repeat.

And a tip I learned after leveling two DoH, just because an ingredient isn't in your guild's vendor doesn't mean it won't be in another's.

Should I buy my DoL gears from vendor as I lvl up or should I go to the AH?

That's a double-edged question. In some cases, you may find gear (even HQ!) cheaper on AH. You can somewhat be lax with most gear, but always make sure to have up-to-date main and offhands, that's where your biggest stats come from. A lot of those you can get from the class quests.

Something I just thought of, if you want to level a DoH alongside a DoL, the Ixal dailies are great. Also provisioning. If you turn in HQ, you get double the reward. I would also do some searching on Google, many sites will have a general leveling guide that will either cost less, be more effective, and some will even suggest leves to do for the best results.

This worked for several of my friends that wanted to level DoHs. I told them:

(Note that this is for HQ'ing stuff to turn in via Levequests)

-Get Culinarian, Blacksmith and Alchemy to 15 for the level 15 abilities. (Hasty Touch, Ingenuity, Tricks of the Trade)
-With those 3 abilities, level Carpenter to 50.
-Any other DoH will be a cakewalk after that.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want more comprehensive steps: (in order)
    -Culinarian, Blacksmithing, Alchemy 15
    -Carpenter 50 (Byregot's Blessing)
    -Culinarian 37 (Steady Hand II)
    -Leatherworking 15 (Waste Not)
-Goldsmithing 15 (Manipulation) Depending on the situation, Waste Not or Manipulation can be better.

The quickest way to level a DoL is by leves, as you haven't played since 2.1 you should have 100 leves which is enough to bring your BTN to 50, it took me 5-6 hours and 40 leves to get from 38 to 50 with MIN, though I recommend you to grind the DoL until lvl 30 and then leve the rest, but if you don't like grinding just go for leves

If you don't think you can get every craft class to 50 very soon, you can at least get them to a certain level for some important skills that can ease up the difficulty throughout your crafting progress.
    - Carpenter to 50 for Byregot's Blessing (for better HQing)
    - Weaver to 50 for Careful Synthesis II (100% success and 120% progress, the level 50 one gives 90% progress instead)
    - Culinarian to 37 (for both hasty touch and steady hands II)
    - Leatherworker to 15 (slows down on your durability loss so you have more steps to increase HQ)
    - Alchemist to level 15 is optional but the skill Tricks of the Trade lets you gain CP for everytime there's a Good condition.

Then again, it depends on which advantage you want to get first.
    Better HQ = carpenter lv50 (byregot's bless)
Access to most DoL/DoH tools = blacksmith
    Access to crafter/gatherer's gears = leatherworker/weaver
Access to their accessories (or weaver's primary tool) = Goldsmith
Access to buff foods = culinarian

Gatherer classes lets you get materials for yourself without having to buy them off the market, right now if I'm not wrong a lot of mid tier materials are very expensive due to shortage. You can also use that advantage to earn more money.

To level the classes fast, just start up on levequests. Any leve works for gatherer and for crafters the "Charity" type leve (pictured with a young lady standing behind an old lady) lets you get more EXP/gil out of a single allowance at the cost of requiring more of the item.

    Hope this helps.

As Violyre said, You get all 3 DoL up to 50 first. IMO you can probably hold off Fisher for a bit unless you plan to Level up ALC or CUL to 50 first.

Also recommend you get WVR, CUL, ALC, CPR and GSM to 15 for their cross class abilities if you havent already.

Ixals are great way for exp. If you have atleast one crafting class at 50. Do all the quest with the lv50 crafter. Switch to the lower lvl one and turn them in as the low lvl crafter.

I wouldnt worry to much about gear because, crafting usually makse you progress through level quickly. Making you constantly upgrading gear. But you do wanna get a new Main Hand and Off hand though. NQ can be bought at vendors.

I recommend you use most of your Leve's on the Carrier quest (Usually starts at a main city and have you deliver to another town) as they give the most EXP atm i believe.

Oh, one more recommendation from me. I would take both miner and botanist to 20 before going further with one of them. You'll get cross-class abilities that will be useful when you need crystals.

I generally held off on leves until level 20-25. Low levels are too easy.
