From level 10 onvards (after using first Thanvarian Onion) it keeps rewarding the same amount of the XP as at level 9 so you need more and more Krakka Roots for each level

But rank 9 is 12k exp. He said at 19 it was 18k (and about that at 11 as well). Which is correct?

Yeah, the info in the first quote is incorrect. I just leveled my chocobo to 10 about a week ago. I was getting 12,000 exp per krakka root in a Good condition stable. Now, training towards level 11, I get 13,150xp per krakka root in a Good condition stable. The value increases, but it is no longer a full 1% per feeding, because from 10 to 11 you need 1,458,000 xp.

Playing a year and my chic is still rank 9. This thing feeds upon your soul to raise. Leveling the chocobo is pretty hardcore for me.

Well it seems like that was their general timeframe though. A year to hit rank 10. Mine did it this week. And as it happens retainers brought me lily seeds so I'll be trying for a thavn onion in the next few weeks. It's long term progress and not something I'm planing on grinding out(much as everything else). If it takes me 2 years to get to 20 I'll be happy with it.

Not a bad way to view it. Lord knows I wouldn't wish that speed grind on anyone. It definitely wasn't fun. But the bragging rights are cool I guess :P

Grats to everyone who contributed to the raising of this fine bird. Thanksgiving is coming up, and I wonder how you'd feel about giving that fine animal to the Culinarians Guild? I hear they have plans to unveil a main dish called a turduckenbo, and only level 20 Chocobos will suffice

Full parties whenever I was able to. Either Urth's gift by the water sprites, or where the Dark Devices fate spawns is the most effective. If you can get a full party to do it with you, you can do 3 quint-pulls where DD spawns, making each mob worth about 360-400 xp per kill.
