so i beat mog EX however.....

this was my first experience with tank swapping however something that annoyed me to no end is tanks that want to just use provoke and have to king stroll over to them meanwhile when i grab the king i run into tomahawk range so i can immediately follow provoke with it. i had to adapt to thier crap by not using any cooldowns till it strolled over. one tank even had the nerve to get mad at me when i used second wind and it came back to me.

Same thing happens with the Spiny in Garuda EX. Bad tanks out number good ones by a large margin.

Spiny is a bugged up piece of **** so I can understand that, as for tanks that tries EX modes without knowing how to tank swap correctly, there are way too many.

Yep, this illustrates nicely why tank swapping involves some player skill and communication.

Experienced tanks know how it works: both how to do it, and how to see what went wrong if it does go wrong.

Would hate to see a game without at least a little challenge such as this.

really, you shouldnt even have to use that, unless your healers suck.

and spiny, if the tank is the one that deals damage to it, and not the dps, then all you should have to do is provoke it. OT shouldnt be taking damage, and if he is, it should be healed by a healer. if the OT continues to attack it, its his fault if he keeps spiny. there is no reason a provoke shouldnt work. the OT should have the hate built up enough that healers wont take it, and nobody should be doing any damage to it by the time the MT takes it

Self buffs will pull the spiny or any voked enemy back to you if the other tank doesn't do anything at all to it. Shield Lob or Tomahawk is all it takes and barely does any damage. Spiny shouldn't be getting low enough for one hit to risk killing it anyway.

Also I fail to see how taking some pressure off of your healers means they suck.

and i said you shouldnt have to.

How is the Spiny bugged? When it spawns, it aggros onto whoever is second on Garuda's enmity list. Provoking it works the same way as how you should Provoke anything in the sense that it will only put you at +1 point of enmity over whoever was top of the list, which as we all know means that you need to follow up with a Tomahawk/Shield Lob or whatever to secure it if its a ranged pull like Mog XM and the Spiny on Garuda.

If someone is just using Provoke and not following it up with an enmity-modified attack, they're doing it wrong.

I think he means in the particular example of Mog XM. If the Tanks are doing it right and the King isn't buffing the other Moogles, they hit like wet noodles so shouldn't require too much healing.

Spiny doesn't have a regular aggro table as otherwise the healers would get the aggro, no matter what it's impossible for a tank to keep aggro on something with 1 tomahawk if the healers are healing as the aggro generated by 1 tomahawk is equal to 3 cure ones. From all my runs of Garuda EX I've had it bug a couple of times were it would just get aggro back even after provoke, as no one is to touch spiny that +1 aggro is a lot.

That isn't bugging, that's you not holding it properly. Just stand with your back to it so you aren't auto-attacking it and use Flash to keep it on you.
