    Time to bring back 1.23 multi-job relic style dungeons

    Interestingly enough, someone revived an old JP thread that talked about how meaningless current endgame is setup, when avoiding instance wipes is more important then having actual strat to defeat a boss.

    I believe this is the right time to request YoshiP to bring back the 1.23 relic style dungeon that we enjoyed so much.

    Instead of spearheading down the path where all the "static" groups wants from you is BiS with only one job, reintroduce the 1.23 style dungeon runs where we must be able to effectively perform multiple jobs to complete a multi-phase dungeon.

    This was what made FFXIV 1.2x different from all the other MMOs. It is time to give us game play using what our character is designed to do, a multi-class/multi-job avatar, and not those one-class wonders all other simple MMOs offers.

    EDIT: This is NOT a request to bring back speed runs. It is a request for SE to produce more challenging dungeon play style where it isn't just any 1T:1H:2DPS or multiple thereof, but a more well planned party makeup during difference phases of the dungeon/boss fights.

    Nope, Yoshi doesn't want to force players to play multiple jobs.

    how did these dungeons work? I joined only after 2.0 so I'm pretty ignorant, but it would be nice seeing something more "consistent" since lately even the newest dungeons are too easy and become soon boring.

    People still wipe at Aurum or Stone Vigil, but everybody can clear Hullbreaker without the slightest ounce of effort.

    And why do "We" want this again? i'm still trying to figure out where the we came from. this sounds even worse. there is a reason 1.xx failed..if this is the type of stuff the minority want back.

    That was how it did work due to the lack of speed run prevention; more of an issue of old XIV engine that is no longer an issue in ARR.

    But the main difference is your party make up cannot consist of just one BiS job for each member, and all of your members needs to be able to perform 3-4 different jobs in order for you to even think about doing the dungeon. You have cases where at one boss, you need to have a WAR to tank, and at another, you need that PLD, at the same time at some phases you need that BLM while in another you must have your MNK.

    In other words, your party better be ready to deal with the different strengths of the bosses, so you must be able to utilize the difference strengths of your jobs. It isn't just about knowing when to dodge this, when to move to the left, and when to avoid being pushed off of that edge.

    That's because AV and SV are level synched, whereas Hullbreaker is not. If they'd sync your iLvl down to the recommended iLvl for Hullbreaker, it wouldn't be quite as easy.

    As for changing jobs within a dungeon.. There were already lots of people excluded from groups because of not having a certain job levelled in 1.x . In ARR it would be far worse.

    This is exactly what's wrong with that system though. It changes the game from, "You have the freedom to play any job you want." to, "You MUST play every job."

    Dungeons back then were something I avoided for the most part. Only reason I even saw the inside of 1.0's aurum vale was because my PLD AF had to be found there. It was, as lololink said: run to beacon => sleep mobs => stand in beacon until everything despawns => run to next beacon => etc. It was pretty damn terrible.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
