They might ask him to increase his prices if he was pricing too low, and if they were unable/afraid to buy him out. And crafted items have crafter tags on them, so hoping for some anonymity is hopeless.

the people you are competing with to sell can and in some cases will harrass people that they consider to be "undercutting". really, there is no established price, and the market is essentially decided by what someone thinks an item is worth. if i make an item, and its simple enough for me to gather, no matter what the actual level of said item is, i will sell it at a low price. if it takes me 30 minutes to gather and craft the item, im not going to sell it for 100k. people will harrass for under selling, and it can get very nasty.

most of my sales go htrough 1 retainer, and my overpriced items go on a second or third retainer.

Great that I make you laugh. I didn't laugh when some months ago a douchebag sent me whisper messages till I blacklisted him because I dared to produce the same stuff as he did but wasn't really up for the moon prices he used so I offered mine cheaper. He didn't just buy it out but got back to me telling me very strange things to put it diplomatically.
