Paladin clarification

Hi all,
When you unlock Paladin does the Gladiator and Conjurer classes get combined to form the Paladin class? I'm asking because i'm no sure what to enter in a search engine to find an answer to my question.

When you unlock Paladin you simply get an item to equip which changes you from the base class, in this case Gladiator, to the job of Paladin. You're still a Gladiator with the basic Gladiator move set, but you also get a bunch of stat increases and job specific abilities every 5 levels at the trade off of some cross-class abilities.

Conjurer remains unaffected.

Think of paladin as an advanced version of gladiator which can only borrow moves from conjurer and marauder but adds its own job skills.
