About SE doing nothing to fight with RMT is not true - they actually ban quite a lot characters. It just happen very slow like months before the action is taken.

Funnily enough I saw the same thing happening in Southern Thanalan, but the person/bot was fate farming. I tested myself manually setting my status to afk, moved, status dropped. So unless there's something else you need to change to prevent that from happening, but as far as I'm aware there's not. I didn't bother reporting for two reasons, one I wasn't 100% sure you couldn't disable the feature and two: it feels like a total waste of time reporting these. I mentioned in another thread the group of botters on Sargy who've been doing the same thing for at least 4 months, probably longer.
You are correct, I had someone test it as I watched their status by the name and soon as they moved even though set it to afk mode manually it still turned off the moment they moved. No matter how many times people try to make up excuses and pretend that running around with afk status is normal, the reality is it is not and it is not possible unless possibly using third party software aka botting. As I mentioned earlier I had people test before I reported the botters.I can't test it myself atm but unless they fixed it, you are wrong. There was a big thread not so long ago where people complained about the afk status being removed even if it was set manually or if auto afk was off, devs replied that they wouldn't change it.
(Again can't test it, so I'd appreciate a quick check)
Sounds strange though, since bots sends the keystrokes to the game. So essentially, it should do exactly as your keyboard/gamepad or whatever does.
Someone would need to test with a macro program to see if it cancels afk mode. Otherwise it's hard to say that afk mode means anything.
Not if you set up an elaborate macro script.Sounds strange though, since bots sends the keystrokes to the game. So essentially, it should do exactly as your keyboard/gamepad or whatever does.

Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?
You obviously don't understand, SE has server side information to go on only, if they are for example gathering in SB gear, the nodes pop at certain places, items also have different values, so you can see someone going along the same route gathering to make a little money and make the materia at the same time, two birds with one stone. Now if I log on at the same time as you and do this every day ( because I love gathering loads), by your logic I am a bot and should be banned. The same goes for farming materials from mobs for crafting, might as well SB whilst fighting these trash mobs, so by your logic again I would be a bot.I understand the need to investigate, and I understand that once banned they will likely create new bots but nothing gets solved by allowing it to happen. If anything it encourages the practice even more.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to identify a bot and SE have access to more game activity data than we will ever see. They shouldn't need more than a few minutes to identify a bot and ban it. I can see 5 of them on my screen right now.
SE cannot just ban for seeing people fighting the same mobs, gathering the same items or using SB gear, now if they were there 24/7 then yes they could look into it, but you personally cannot prove that unless you stay there watching them 24/7.
A good bot will ensure that only normal commands are sent to the server, as if they were using a keyboard, therefore it makes it much harder to ban.
can you link me where it says this is not allowed? People say this but I haven't been able to find a source where I am not allowed to post someone's name - and in these cases bots.
People have been banned for naming and shaming, I think SE sees it as harassment which is against the ToS of the forums.
