Carebear FF14

Unfortunately I have been excused from these forums before so I will watch my words.

Currently their are only NA / EU / and JP servers.

Unlike other MMOs their are RP and other sorts of servers.

If what I say doesn't sprout rainbows and hugs I seem to be yelled at by GMs and the community.

I ask for a hardcore server. Dedicated to PVP extremes and fierce competition.

(A prime example of a a successful long term MMO is a competitive market and player base pinned against each other) All in all its a game, but I would like to play it in competitive form that breeds a challenge to log on and strive to be better at what I love to play.

Can anyone agree or am I the black sheep?

Yoshida mentioned that a PvP server /may/ be possible with /enough demand/, you have a sliver of hope I guess? Yoshida is a huge fan of PvP.

I also would add that using the epithet "carebear" is not going to win you any points.

Pvp is what kept "WoW" alive and on an international stage; not its dungeons.

That's a term I haven't heard used since the invention of Trammel in Ultima Online.

Part of your problem is that alot of the people who agree with your point of view are also a minority in the XIV community. A loud, vocal minority but minority all the same. People generally don't think of Final Fantasy as a series known for robust PvP. The closest previously was XI's various iterations in Ballista... and that weird island arena thing, Pankration? No, Pankration was the poke'mon thing... either way, it wasn't serious PvP. XIV's PvP isn't even serious PvP and it's better thought out than Ballista ever was. PvP just isn't a thing like in other games because, like XI, XIV wasn't built with PvP in mind. The PvP was a carefully thought out afterthought. If you wanted fierce PvP competition on overarching battlefields... you picked the wrong game. I hear Guild Wars II did that best.

Ugh, WoW PvP. Did not want. I was one of those players ruining them for holiday achievements.

I want to say FF14 is amazing. To make it more amazing is to appeal to another audience. Those who consider games over the internet as e-sports.

As a former L2 player (2004-2009 o_O) I can relate to this feeling, sometimes I just want to kill someone...


However, I don't think FF14 could become a competive PvP game, this would need quite some changes (skills, gears, maybe attributes, game contents...) and I have the feeling the community is not fit for it.

I actually liked the way DCUO handled PVP once the servers merged... You could turn on a flag that allowed you to attack other players who had theirs up (villains vs heroes).
