The answer is no
One can hope, but it doesn't seem likely. Should the day ever come though I'll be pleasantly surprised. In all honestly, I love the lore behind Summoner and actually like that our Egis differ in appearance than the Primals. I think aesthetically it would be worse to see miniature Ifrits and Titans floating around.
With that said, however, I think Summoner is in desperate need of some... pizzazz. It bothers me that you can differentiate a high level Black Mage or White Mage due to the flashiness or impact of their spells, yet, there is little to discern a high level Summoner from one who just unlocked their Ifrit-Egi. I feel as though once our power grows, we should be able to control a more formidable looking pet.
Dream big!
The problem with the Summoner in Final Fantasy XIV is the same with the class/job system in general they are not creative and they are oversimplified and boring because they designed them around the average player skill instead of the potential of the class/job which causes people to either play this game as their secondary mmo just for raiding or quit all together and play some other MMO that has more complexity ie Elder Scrolls Online and Warframe cause they are fun.
Elder Scrolls Online all skilles evolve based on use and the Pet evolves separately from the player based on how often players use their summon.

Ah, about time. I guess you couldn't resist a +1 on the DPS forums after that signature OP you left in the General section. By the way, I have a coworker who played Elder Scrolls and he said that you are capped at 5 abilities/skills you can during battle. How is ARR oversimplified when compared to this? The problem with the Summoner in Final Fantasy XIV is the same with the class/job system in general they are not creative and they are oversimplified and boring because they designed them around the average player skill instead of the potential of the class/job which causes people to either play this game as their secondary mmo just for raiding or quit all together and play some other MMO that has more complexity ie Elder Scrolls Online and Warframe cause they are fun.

It's not. It's Akiza making yet another statement that makes no sense at all.Ah, about time. While there is certainly a great resistance when a dev/rep posts against an idea, it is not a guarantee for all time. As has been proven in the past.
There are many pet classes in mmos and I find the current egis to be the disappointing ones of the bunch (visually), even if ARR in general has superior graphics and aesthetics.

I loved playing SMN due to its visuals in XI. Even though 99% Didn't want it in their PT(Pre AB-scrubs) And it was a rare sight to see someone with the class @ Lv 75(Just with BST)
Once i had my Early access i logged it, created a char -> Arcanist, i was ecstatic to be playing a SMN class again on Final Fantasy, How ever i soon realized after unlocking SMN how ugly the EGI's were. And beyond that how we turned into a dot class.
But lets not talk about that now, The fact that the EGIs in my opinion are now (Visualy) Just ugly as hell i mean, a floating body with a (Geni) like bottom?
One of the reasons why my SMN is 50 and i switched to other classes and never looked back.
Just looking at the differences of the summoner pets between XI and XIV, they reeeeally made XIV summoner look like they're summoning those elemental pets <-,<- Even then, I think FFXI's elemental pets looked better than the Egi ones of XIV. Sad.
Very very sad.
It would be like giving Dragoon a wyvern quest at level 50, and the wyvern looks like a 16-bit green bat from the SNES.
How they look right now is insulting to summoners. I'm hoping that they either get a rework or change their appearance as the level cap increases. Perhaps this is the "egi" line, and once the level cap increases there will be a higher tier group.
