Thread: Crysta Limits Prevent Paying For Retainer Service

Here's a small problem with the introduced retainer service.

Standard 180 Days: $77.94 (7,794 Crysta)
Retainer (2x) 180 Days: $24.00 (2,400 Crysta)
-----
Total: 180 Days: $101.94 (10,194)
Limit Break: 194

10,194 Crysta for FFXIV alone plus:

Basic Service Fee (30 days*6) 7,170 Crysta
Character Fee* (30 days*6) 600 Crysta

Total: 17,964
Limit Break: 7,964

*(Assumes One Extra Character)

Is SE considering upping the Crysta Limit here? Or am I SOL and going to have to go without the retainers on my next six month cycle?

Interesting. This prob belongs in tech or general instead of new player. Don't think it will get the attention it deserves here. Maybe even in bugs.

Yeah, that's kind of a large oversight. There are ways to work it (pay with the retainers with a different payment type, cancel the retainers for a day when your subscription recurs then add more crysta and reactivate), but they shouldn't be necessary.

Silly of them to make it hard to take your money. I doubt you'll get a decent answer this early on, but you might want to contact support and see what they say about it. At least it's another avenue for making SE aware of the problem.

I did put in a ticket, and there's ...admittedly kind of a post already made by me in the Website Feedback.

The problem with paying for the Retainer Fees separately is that it will also change my billing setup for my main subscription too. In essence, it becomes a hassle that reminds me all too well of PlayOnline.

Oh, all right. I didn't go through with anything, just saw that I could select a payment type for the retainers, thought it might be separate. But yeah, really should have known better.

Good luck with the ticket and such. I hope they come up with something.

We'll see, but I don't think it wise to hold my breath. While the XIV teams are great, support and SE billing are slow.. and frankly don't seem to pay much attention.

Confused, thought retainers were free, unlock them from a main story quest.

The first two are free. They just added an optional service to get up to two more for $2/month each.
