Healers do more than heal.

Ok I just need some feedback from some of the healers out there. Have you all been getting slack for dpsing in dungeons?

When I first was leveling and didn't have the gear or confidence sure I just healed. Now I am an ilvl 100 and have the experience to both heal and do dps. What's the deal with all the rage from players lately? Also just because a healer turns on Cleric Stance doesn't mean it's on the entire fight! It's an instant and can be turned on and off should the need arise.

I recently was in a party on the last boss of Tam Tamara Deepcroft <HM> and was completely reamed out for dpsing the grooms by a summoner. I mentioned this one time because the dragoon in the party actually stuck up for me for a change and told the summoner to shut it.

Sure healers heal but a truly good healer can heal and dps. Am I wrong on this?

Nope, not wrong at all. If you're keeping everyone at a good health and keeping them protected, then you should DPS. I cannot stand when healers stand there doing absolutely nothing when there's no healing to be done.

If no one is needing any heals then feel free to dps. I always open up with my dots and use dmg spells as time allows. I might not do any dmg on the first pull if I don't know the tank and am unsure how much damage they are going to take.

If you can dps and are not dpsing you are doing it wrong.

If you have no need to heal at the time DPS. :-D

I've even had tanks die in dungeons when I was DPSing. Instead of being angry that I let them drop due to boneheadedness, they were fine with it since I was doing DPS.

Mind you I shouldn't be a bonehead!

just because you can dps, doesnt mean you have to. does it help, yes. if you dont dps as a healer, it doesnt mean youre bad. do i dps in low level dungeons? when i feel like it. if its a decent tank, i can usually get off a stone/stone 2 between heals, even if im not comfortable enough to use cleric stance. the only time ive ever said anything about a healer dpsing is when the tank was allowed to reach 50%.

Yes really. Standing around doing absolutely nothing when you could help is lazy. And this is coming from someone who's main jobs are white mage and scholar.

I had a good laugh. A summoner is down right horrible in Tam-Tara's HM. They don't have the burst to take down the grooms before they reach Edda. At least from what I've seen in DF. (I'm sure raging strikes> Ruin > Ruin II > Mana drain > Ruin would suffice but most SMN dot the grooms in hopes that will be enough.) I welcome any healer that throws on Cleric Stance in that boss fight.

For me, I tend to think this way:

Tank needs to do their best at keeping all monsters on them.

DPS needs to their best at.. Checking for not getting aggro from mobs, if so, switch targets. And Dodge. Lots of Dodge

Healers need to keep the Tank alive, Himself, then DPS.

If as a healer, no one dies, even with cleric Stance on: you want to feel lazy? It will take longer, we'll still clear dungeons, and I'm perfectly fine with it.

I think you know what should you be looking for.

If you have fun your way, and you make sure no one dies at all through the dungeon or trial: What's there to rage about?

For me, completion of a Dungeon/trial while having fun comes first before the amount of DPS or anything.

You wiped once? Oh my gosh! Unbelievable, yup, bad healer, bad dps, bad tank, good monsters 3

Really the major problem in the game comes from those that wants to go in, get it done on the first try, no wipes, so they can requeue fast enough again.

I enjoy the moment, having a good run, and even if I wipe 3 times bec your cat jumped on your keyboard, that's life.

Kids in here takes this game too seriously. For me it takes the fun away, which is the point of a game in the first place (go figure)
