Personal Housing Questions

Reading up (everything I can find) on Personal Housing, I'm really starting to get the feeling I'm going to be massively disappointed. I'd at least hope we could have different sized Houses, because you know, I've been saving up for this since launch, and they keep delaying it, so I keep saving up more. At this point I could just form a FC for myself and buy a Medium size House when they add more Wards I guess, but still. I guess I'll be fine if they're at least in the same zone, I really like Lavender Beds and I already picked out my ideal plot, not even being allowed that would be a massive buzz kill.

The 850,000 gil ballpark range is actually starting to make me laugh at least. Can we please buy multiple Houses? I want to own an entire Ward. I do remember something pre-launch about us being able to trade Plots, I could be a virtual real estate agent; everyone already hates me enough for that.

Gods, I really wish they didn't give us information on content pre-launch if it wasn't even going to be here a year after... Stuff like Personal Housing and Primal Summoning really were mentioned far too soon.

I'm in the exact same boat. I feel that FC housing set the stage for expectations and that's not at all what they're going to deliver for personal. I've already begun planning for disappointment and have a rank 6 FC ready to go the moment new wards are added. It will be really sad if players have to resort to this tact to fulfill what player housing does not. No info, no communication; just terrible job managing this SE. : \

I remember a few live letters ago when they discussed the pricing for personal housing. At the time they said they were thinking 850k, but Yoshi-P was worried that it was still too much. I think in the same live-letter they said that players have on average 2 mil gil.

All I can say is that in the past 2 months I've made almost 14 mil gil without even actively trying to make gil. I can only imagin how rich people that actually focus on making gil are. The game just tosses so much gil at players nowadays that I expect the prices to be higher than 850k.

But, given that 2.38 is being released next week and we barely knwo anything about personal housing, something tells me it's getting delayed.

I'm just waiting for the info on the personal housing to decide whether I get that or the plot of land I've been looking at for a small FC house for myself (all my friends left the game, so I'm in charge by default). If it gives me everything that an FC house can do (gardening, chocobo raising, airship, etc.) and still costs less, then I'll be personal-homeward bound.

At the relatively (cheap) price of 800k, all I can say is this better be accessible to everyone, forever. ie: there better be no way for it to "fill up" like the Free Company wards have.

Also, I want to be able to assign FULL permissions to ONE person, and not a list of ppl such as FC members or Friendlist.

The sooner we can hear about this the better. There are so many variables and questions.

My biggest concern is that they make it so EVERYONE can get a personal house. If it turns out like the FC houses where its first come first serve and if you are too slow you are outta luck, then I have lost all interest in one of the biggest draws to this game that is still left. after this, my last hope is the Golden Saucer and its accompanying mini-games and distractions.

crap... after reading these MUCH closer im realizing that they're talking about the FC wards AND THEN (oh btw) you can buy personal housing AND THEN back to increasing lands in the existing wards. Seems like they are purposefully putting the land bit in front and end to make people believe they are talking about personal housing and not the FC wards. (i did public affairs in the US Navy for 8 years so i have a little exp with misdirection like this :P)

I have to believe it won't be like the FC wards for two reasons, one sort of obvious, and the other as contained in this quote:

Just the other night we had a meeting which included Kasuga about even more additional plots and what kind of plans they have in order to accommodate them. At the same time we've been looking into whether we can increase the number of plots by juggling our graphic resources. Currently, we're working out all the parameters and then we'll be deciding how to do it and at what time based on the results.

Kasuga: The quick answer as to why it's not so simple to add more land is because of the infrastructure. Compared to our initial plans for infrastructure, the current demand for land has far exceeded what was predicted, and in the event that we decide to go forward with the current infrastructure, we would have no choice but to address the issue with software. And if we were to rely on a software solution, it would be difficult to secure the time required to test everything out, further delaying the release of new land.

Yoshida: Of the ideas we have at the moment, we are trying to make the final decision as to which solution is the quickest and would allow for the most land, as well considering the amount of time and resources it will take. Of course there have been those who have suggested spending millions to enhance the servers, but this would be the last resort for our engineers. We're currently looking into exactly how much we can increase the amount of land with our current resources and we'll be doing this right up to the last minute. If it appears that all other avenues have been exhausted, then I'll make the call to beef up the servers. At the very least, we will be increasing land in patch 2.38 and you'll also be able to start purchasing private housing.

This Q/A is mainly about Free Company housing with personal housing as an aside. I believe it's saying that they will be adding more FC Housing (wards) (how many is yet to be determined) and that it's not easy to do this, and the aside being: by the way at least you can buy your own personal house.

The (would seem obvious) reason that they cannot make personal housing in the same type of instanced wards is because they don't even have enough FC wards, how can they drop Personal Housing the same way and then it not be available for everyone. The game would explode.

While I WANTED it to be in ward/neighborhoods, I realize this really won't work at all. There are too many players. How many FC houses are there? Like 200 per server? They would need like 5000+ personal houses available? So... this is my hope...

Exactly. The more you think about it, the more it makes sense they simply can't handle this kind of demand and instanced rooms would be the only viable route. Luckily for me, they're adding more FC wards so I'll be simply buying myself a mansion that way. Sucks for others though.
