Personal Housing Questions

So 2.38 was just announced for next Monday night/Tuesday morning, so crossing my fingers that they'll release some info within the next day or two here. At this point I'd really just like to know if personal housing is going to be a land race like with FC housing, or if it will be possible for every player to own their own house.

The bold part is important and crushed my dreams of owning a mansion like FC's can have in a large ward like mist. Now I believe they'll be nothing more than smaller FC rooms with no physical residence or community ward.

TBH, SE has done an awful job communicating how player housing will work and STILL has yet to even address it with less than a week to launch. At this point, what details do they need to iron out before they could do a preview? They're setting us up for disappointment which will only result in backlash this late in the game.

That part of the quote you bolded was in regards to the size of the personal rooms.

I thought so too, but re-read it; it could be something lost in translation, but it clearly says the player housing will be introduced after FC rooms with the size being larger than inn rooms.

I certainly know I misread it the first time as well.

To be fair, that interview seems off anyway.

The prices will be around 850,000 gil, which Yoshida says might be a bit too much, so it could be lower.

I swear I read the opposite, that Yoshida said 850,000 gil was too low and would probably be higher.

We already KNOW they are physical houses because they will have gardens and their own wards...

That's my thinking as well. Technically personal housing could just be your house in it's own little zone that you buy, with the front yard being part of that zone, which would allow for gardening, chocobo raising, and for everyone to feasibly acquire their own house. Meets the requirements of being a money sink, satisfying the part of the community that wouldn't have been able to acquire a house if it was ward-based, and allowing players to access the features of the game that are tied to housing. Personally I'm crossing my fingers for the size to be between a medium and a small FC house. So like a medium house but maybe without the basement or top floor.
