A defensive cooldown would be appreciated but I doubt SE would ever give melee any direct dmg mitigating abilities (aside from the increase parry rate of keen flurry and monk's fist of earth) since it would be seen as an infringement on tank abilities/capabilities. Maybe a melee pvp ability similar to marauder bloodbath except with an increase to the proportion of the amount healed. Though I'd be ecstatic if they gave melee something as simple as a sprint which consumes mp instead of tp lol. Its another unlikely possibility, especially considering melee dps I think are the only jobs with gap closing abilities (namely dragoon's dives and monk's shoulder tackle) as well as the only class that can remove sprint in pvp, but one can dream.

Even as a blm free casting full rotations with flares and multiple kill target LBs I don't hit 120k often.
I can vouch for him, as we've teamed up many times and I've seen him in action. News Flash: You don't see tanks doing big numbers because 90% of them are in useless VIT/Parry/Accuary gear that they use in PVE. Smart (and very rare) tanks know to stack STR/Det/Crit for Frontlines. Combine high DPS with chain stuns and it can get pretty crazy. I reach the same numbers on my PLD and it's unusual that a DPS in my team out-damages me. Gearing up properly makes a huge difference.

I think Bards can be pretty effective in drawn out fights, where both sides have decent healers and its a battle of attrition.

Its hard for Melees to keep a high DPS against targets that like to run around, particularly as the fight drags on and they start resisting stuns. And a BLM's DPS drops every time someone focuses on them (its usually a pesky Bard!). But Bards can keep their DPS up while being attacked, and even against moving targets. The fact that they can recover the MP of their own healers helps in these longer fights too.

In rounds where this sort of fight happens, I've had damage dealt scores of over 140K with my BRD.

BRD dps is a lot higher than people realize. The trick is to always attack from 15y away (visual indicators help) which most BRDs dont do. Melees are unable to deal full dmg due to greased lighting and positionals and BLM (and to a lesser extend SMN) cant dps propperly when attacked, leaving BRD in a very good spot dps wise when played correctly.

I think PLD is decent in pvp. Their ability to stunlock is quite good. But only shines when the team is more coordinated. If I had to voice some changes I'd like to see to the class, that doesn't make them super overpowered it would be:

    1. Tempered Will CD reduced to 90 secs, duration increased to 15secs, immunity to bind added.
    2. Cover now transfers physical and magical damage to the PLD
    3. Oaths are no longer on GCD
    4. Hallowed Ground no longer has a delay

PLD and BRD don't need buffs. They are fine the way they are.

Imagine PLD's or BRD's getting a buff to damage? SMN's/BLM's would most likely be useless in comparison. PLD's also have a lot of things going for them. If a PLD has the time to hit 100k+ dps, they are only wasting time fighting healers for hours upon end. The good PLD's are the ones who know how to use their skills and support your team. Whether it be stun locking a target, using full swing for extra damage, or even covering a healer or someone in need of help, PLD's are really good in FL. FL's standings at the end of a fight don't really reflect the skill of a PLD. As long as your party acknowledges you, then that should be all the satisfaction you should want while playing PLD.

-Think of it as basketball for example. Most people look to see who scores the most and in turn gets the most popularity in the world. While it's true, real bball fans will notice everyone doing their rolls properly, the people who aren't hardcore bball fans just look at scores 9 times out of 10. PLD's are kinda like point guards in basketball. They 'assist' their team and help them win the game.

    Edit:

Looking for at least 1 more personal tier list so I can start averaging them in the front page of this thread. And to all the people posting here, post what you think too so we can see how the community thinks of the current classes. (And of course to get more people to post their lists too =p)

I once played PLD in a match and had the worst scores on the board, but pretty much every party member gave me a commendation after we lost the match. Why? Because we were a WAR/PLD/PLD/SCH/4xDPS Pug and I made certain that everyone had Stoneskin up as much as possible, the SCH was well protected (he never died) and we held our point through out the whole match.

Bruh, bruh. All SE has to do is remove positional requirements for melees so we can top charts consistently. If Ninja is suppose to be less positional requirements it'd be way better in terms of damage in comparison to mnk and drg.

Interesting thread~ First off, Atreus's numbers are VERY believable. Considering that pld is at the absolute bottom of the killme-list, ALL plds SHOULD be getting these numbers. Higher survivability, way less pressure = way more time to stay engaged and dog your targets. Back in WD, alot of the smart MARs capitalized on the 'ignore me' factor, popped on str gear and went to town. As such, a pld who plays extremely aggressively is a godsend for the team. He can do those behind the scene jobs no one else is geared for (i.e-become an enemy blm's shadow and follow him home to his bedroom) Anyway..the list-

    1. BLM (thats right, not healer..and no, not biased..I brd it up)
    2. SCH (because EoS is law)
3.DRG (if he really, and I mean REALLY knows what he's doing)
    4. WHM (strong ya, but not nearly as indestructible as so many seem to think)
    5. SMN (until WD revives where healers can give more personalized attention, smn's leash has really gotten..short)
    6. WAR (pretty much a self-sustaining one man army. The day Yoshi extends Holmgram-w/e even 1 yalm, it bumps smn out the way.)
    7. PLD (also a contender for the #5 slot depending on what his target priorities are besides the healer)
    8. MNK (gonna draw fire for this but w/e. Til mnk gets an ff14 version of Asuran Fist or at least some more hp, it's just a walking mp sink for healers..assuming ones close by. The dispel is tactically..cute? but outside WD, its overall usefullness just doesn't compare to burst.
    9. BRD (Yep...my crappy job is last. See..totally unbiased ;)
