Haven't really had too much trouble doing all the crafting classes. I've been doing all my quest up to the 6th npc (the one nearest to the ethcal nine boss) with simple inner quiet, steady hand 1, the most expensive quality up, and then finishing progress in 1/2 hits depending on item, even the ones that locks me out of cross class skills. I've been using mostly armorer on the last 2 npcs, weavers for the previous ones. Not that melded, only 330 on both stats and can't even make 2 stars (considering the parts needed more than 330 craft).

But yea, I'm not a super crafter and any 'hard' stuff I make, I generally do it manually with hasty and tricks but for these I just use quality and progress ups that cost CPs.

In response to culinarian being the easiest to craft the later level quests.

Just got this one today, I tried to burn CP like usual with great strides and standard/advanced touch and it almost ended bad, for the other two i cut off strides and went with steady hands II, waste not and hasty touches, finishing with byregot's when i felt i had enough IQ stacks.

This was as a lvl 50 weaver, I can guess how bad it is for low level crafters.

If you're getting both buffs for different Ixali quests, do not do that. You're only making it harder for yourself.

I was initially doing these quests on my mostly naked CUL or ALC, but by tier 3 it became too troublesome, especially since the actual crafting portion gives terrible experience given the very low recipe level. Now I do all of those on my 50 WVR. It has outdated (pre-2.3) jewelry mostly melded and no other materia. I can breeze through the quests easy enough, though considering I'm about 35 levels over the recipe level it should require no effort at all.

The only thing I can imagine is that SE wanted a minimum level to turn in the quest, but didn't want to be too demanding about it. At the same time, they wanted to make sure people didn't use the recipes themselves for exp and so they listed their level much lower than what the difficulty ends up being. I think most people have a better way to level crafting jobs, but I suppose they wanted to prevent people sitting around getting experience for crafting things that only really require 2 shards from the player.

Basically, I think the levels being what they are serves a completely different purpose than to indicate the difficulty. Probably an oversight, but who knows what they're thinking sometimes? I'm guessing +7 levels per tier would feel about right, though that might be on the difficult side. I'm only up to the Mor Dhone / no cross class skills quests myself. They're still easy @ 50, but I'm kind of wondering what the highest level quests will be like.

My rotation for this quest didn't give me 100% (the class I was using is one of the ones I haven't melded at all...I just really like the BSM AF gear...) but is good enough for at least 80% no Good procs, so unless you're really unlucky, its good enough.

    Comfort Zone
    Inner Quiet
    Waste Not
    Steady Hand II
    Hasty Touch x4
    Steady Hand II
Basic Touch (x2 if I have the CP)
    Byregot's Blessing
    Careful Synthesis 2 x2

Use Tricks of the Trade after Inner Quiet, Hasty Touch #4, or anytime after the second Steady Hands II (unless you won't be able to get Byregot's buffed by it)

Yeah, I know that's using a lot of lv50 abilities, and yeah...if you don't have Byregot's or Steady Hand II I HIGHLY recommend getting them

I got 100% HQ on my CUL using hasty touch, master's mend and basic synthesis. It took me awhile to find a class I could actually do it on. It was annoying and I can't imagine how brand new crafters will enjoy this.

EDIT: Thanks for clarifying for me.

If you didn't notice, the synths for Camp Dragonhead involve all 3 crafting buffs (more like debuffs) encountered so far - Specialization II (no crossclass), Detailing II (-CP), and Finishing II (-CP too I think? haven't done these yet). If you accept all of the components at once you could end up with all 3 buffs, which ... kind of sucks. Pay attention and make sure you only have the appropriate buff for the synth or you could be in for a rough fight.

Do only one quest at a time, when you finish crafting right click the buff icon to remove the restriction before turning in another quest, if you stack different (de)buffs you will have a really bad time.

Mining for Compliments will give you Specialization II (no cross class)
A High Wind in Ishgard will give you Detailing II (-150 CP)
Bring Your Own Ectoplasm will give you Detailing II (-150 CP)

Not sure about the other three quests but from these three you can only do 2nd and 3rd with the same buff.

Ah. So if you don't pay attention you get screwed over with debuffs. Gotcha.

Which one restricts high level skills or do all of them? Because that's the part that annoys me the most - they punish you for being a high level crafter instead of rewarding you by making things easier. I'm sure that's in place to make it "fair" but clearly I don't agree.

I don't think any of them restricts high level skills, I've been doing all quests until now using Careful Synthesis II.

Though I have yet to see the Finishing II debuff, the last time we used Finishing I was for rank 1 crafts, I think it halved your progress.
