If you're just starting you should be find. I use CUL to do all the synths, and you'll level fast. By the time you get to the tricky ones, you should have a good compliment of skills.

In a previous post, someone said they were a 50 CUL and struggling. All I can say is that that person must have been doing something wrong. I've even accidentally stuck myself with a double debuff as CUL and still managed to HQ the pieces, and I've only 1 piece of materia on my CUL gear. CUL is by far the best class to do the tricky synths on.

As a note, the fishing rank 6 quest is the same quality/progress as High Wind, but the debuff is Specialization (no cross-class skills) instead of reduced CP. Also, you only need one of them. I found it incredibly easy to do haphazardly, where for High Wind, I have to pay attention. I think it's the CP hit that makes it really hard for newer crafters. Don't forget that you can eat food! Some mid-range CP food isn't terribly expensive.

(And :P to anyone who said the direwolf was ugly. I <3 my cute widdle blue puppy (Also, read the description of the direwolf in the mount guide, not the big description, the little one in the tooltip. Song of Ice and Fire references ftw! ))

ok hi as i was saying because i honestly didn't think this thread would hit 12 pages (holy hell)

the rank 7 missions are fine in the level of difficulty and in the way they are designed, this mission "a high wind in ishgard" plays on a much harsher difficulty scale compared to the others of this quest. this quest is designed to be done by a level 18 crafter, (presumably on his FIRST crafting job), and yet it seems that those with level 50's crafters are having difficulties.

i am not saying "oh dis is hurd i cannea du eet" what i am saying is that in comparisons to the other quests of this level it seems vastly out of place.

at first i was confused by why this one was much harder and why advice i was getting wasn't seeming to do much help. in the end i have done them but the amount of RNG based work on this can only give those (who are not level 50 at crafting) a maximum of 7% if lucky (13 if excilant lucky).

i noticed a lot of people are going off on a tangent saying how i (or others) are complaining that this their is difficult, i assure you this isn't the care, it is focused on this specific quest, that i feel wasn't truly made with level 18's nor cullinarians (for hasty touch) or anyone who isn't lvl 50 in crafting.

also blue wolf is cute and death mask is cool.

The Ixali quests in general are VERY generous with the amount of crafting exp they give, at no real cost to the player except some time, and teleport fees. Rank 6 are the highest dailies you'll unlock and if only 1 of them presents any real challenge, that's ok. I mean, at least we still get exp every time we craft it, HQ or not, and there's unlimited free materials, so success is guaranteed for the tenacious.
Sorry sir, but it needs to be changed. Other Rank 6 quests, it's normal to get at most between 20% and 100% quality. That one, the highest you can get is 10%. If it was 20% like one of the other rank 6, it'd be fine. But only 10%? That's not acceptable for anybody, especially when the combo you're using for that is getting you 20% on another rank 6 quest that has almost identical progress and quality (and the same debuff).

I finally got to this point and yeah, f*ck these quests! I'll just do it the slower less headache-y way by doing the ones 1 level below. Once you beat them, they become easier. My Armorer is just 41 and can't do the 2nd Coerthas quests. I managed to do one by luck by getting HQ on 10%, but after that, fuggetaboutit! It just wasn't happening. I quit the remaining quest and did the lower ones to ease the pain. It'll take me an extra week, but I'll be more relaxed and save more playing time as these quest are by far more time consuming than the other beast quest which were more fun in my opinion.

The Ixal tribe crafting is clearly geared towards those with crafters @ level 5o already.
How can they mark recipes of level 5, 6, etc. and yet i am level 30 and fail to synthesis over and over again.
At this point i may just wait until i get my alchemist to 50 or skip them all together

I also use the provisioning GC missions to boost exp too, by turning in HQ items when they are available, but I've only recently started doing this.

Either way I think you'll be more than fine.

Twice I managed to get crits that put me up to 17% once and 60something% a second time. Still didn't make a single HQ, but did make like 25 NQ. The other 2 rank 6 quests I did weren't easy by any means, but they weren't this level of difficulty either and I was able to make the HQs needed within a handful of tries (or two handfuls at most).

So basically from now on, I'll be skipping this quest altogether. It's just not worth the hassle.
Thanks for your feedback, thats the kind of feedback Square Enix needs.
I wish to read more of those...

    BTW, Draco and others,

Did anyone write up a bug report on this?

While I agree removing any extra Debuffs from the other Ixali dailies you might've had on will definitely help, the difficulty is something that sounds like a mistake on SE's part; it's not like it was marked as a "3 Star" Max Level Synth.

I'm certain it isn't a bug, but an oversight. Again, there is another craft that has the exact same stats, but the only difference is the debuff. That is a huge difference. No cross-class skills is much less painful than a loss of 150cp. I don't think SE realized how important CP is, especially to newer crafters. The reason it's so much easier with a max crafter is that you can use cross-class skills to soften the CP loss, between Hasty Touch (+18 CP per basic touch), Steady Hand 2 (-3CP over SH, but much more effective), Byregot's Blessing (saves 24 CP over Advanced Touch for your final touch move), Comfort Zone +14 CP), and Tricks of the Trade (+20 CP on each Good condition). Using all the cross class skills, you can step back the difficulty increase of the CP loss.

Conversely, with the no-crossclass penalty, you can blow 100 CP on expensive versions of things (adv touch instead of Byregot's, Basic Touch instead of Hasty Touch), so the debuff doesn't have as large of an impact.
