This is purely your opinion and no one else. This is always a bad example and comparison of both games.

FFXI is now being made and was back when Abyssea came out for the "casual" crowd (still not sure why people use that word as something bad).
It had its ups and downs (many of both.) FFXIV:ARR is an amazing game imho. I love the storyline so far, it's truly captivated me, and I can't wait to see how it all keeps going in the updates/expansion to come!

I have my own issues with FFXIV:ARR that I hope they eventually get to and resolve with creative ways to keep the game going on for many years, but I definitely don't want a rehash of FFXI, I gladly welcome many "successful" ideas to come over from that game or any for that matter.

A lot of people forget to realiz FFXI was gated behind content just like XIV, but in different ways. When FFXI first came out, there was no sky, sea, gods, Limbus, nothing ToAU endgame related, hardly any real endgame content. RoZ, CoP, and ToAU truly brought the variety of endgame content so many people fondly remember. But in order to even get to that stuff, you had to level your job(s). Which in itself took an extremely long time. That was FFXI's gate. Especially for when it first came out. Spend months (even years) getting just your first lvl 75. Before you could finally experience the limited endgame pre-RoZ and any other expansion.

I gladly welcome anything like a complex job such as PUP (even FFXI's SMN) to the mix of FFXIV:ARR. Give me my RDM back! I want BLU, I wana be a DNC again, finally getting my NIN! Come on Yoshi!

Clearly you're the one who lacks reading comprehension... that and you seem to be putting words in my mouth.
I never said it was negative, I just said your "argument" of the two games comparison just wasn't that strong, nor everyone's opinion on the subject.

But way to act mature about what I said, and jumping to conclusions before actually... reading. Not a big fan of hypocrisy.

Here we have a couple of things that are RNG (namely Atma) and people are up in arms over how unfair it is.
In XI, pretty much everything endgame was RNG.

Yes, I'd like the game to have more "depth" but I wouldn't call this game bad. So far I like the story and the characters in it. Also if they do add more "depth" I'd prefer if they left the RNG to a minimum.

On an off note, Marik, I think the likelihood of XIV getting Dancer is pretty high. Dancer seems to fit XIV style fairly well. ^^
    T_T Sadly, the job I wanted won't be added... v-v;

This is pretty much it in a nutshell. FXIV caters to console players and your everyday gamer whos just lookin' for some good ol' fasion fun without the painstaking hours of trying different builds/gears to figure out which ones the most optimal. I can already see it now if they added this into this game, "Looking for DPS for T6 but you must be X gear, with Y build, no a/b/c/d build allowed" - well gee that sucks, because what if that person dumped all there gil and time playing a certain build but is now deemed "inefficient" ? That's what FXIV was trying to avoid, hence the very pigeonholed classes with very little wiggle room.

While in theory its fun to have variety, inevitably what happens is there ends up being one kick-ass build while the other 99 go to waste or are just there for iconic/amusement reasons. I want the devs to really take there time and really think about how to go about adding variety within each class/job without making something completely useless. It's a tall order but I think it can be done if given time.

Holy sheet. Not even just spells and abilities and MP/TP management... You can even customize the AI??

Why can't we have jobs that have this kind of customization and depth in FFXIV? My FC doesn't understand why I refuse to play DPS in XIV, but... if there was something like this... I wouldn't even care if it was shunned in endgame, I'd be all over it anyway.
If that type of character was built with this game, 99% of the "customization" would end up ignored.

That's a lot of development effort to just go to waste...

    Always remember the Silver Rule:

I hope you realize that jobs with that level of "options" were pretty few in FFXI (Blue Mage and Puppetmaster) and were added years after the release of the game. It's not impossible that some day we'll see the same in XIV.

In contrast, physical DPS jobs are far more interesting to play in XIV.

Mages can go either way. FFXI had far more spells, but mostly consisted of spells having the exact same function:
    - one status healing spell for each status effect.
    - elemental series spells all did the same thing but with improving damage.
    - cure series spells all did the same thing (mostly, Cure V at the time was a bit different) but had improved healing.
    - etc, etc for most spell series.

FFXIV already has a problem with certain spells falling into disuse, imagine how it was in FFXI. So, the argument is whether you prefer a long list of spells, but most of them being outdated or unused, or a smaller list with most of them being relevant.

4 years ago when I played, the game looked different, how classes worked were different.
We now at 1st years anniversary of FFXIV: ARR

So I don't agree it is 4 years old. Too much has changed from 1.0 to 2.0.

I did loved FFXI, mostly of the very nice people I encountered, not so much by gameplay. Did love BLU and PUP, because they were actually the 2 jobs as you said, that you actually could play in different ways.

So Risvertasashi, I also hope for more jobs that are the dept of PUP and BLU.

But is it really worth to create an advanced system, when you know that 95% of the player base will Google for the best way and ignore the rest?

It is a sad thing, but I can understand a company decides to not go for such system.

They got rid of most everything from 1.0 and started over. They basically give you a boosted 2.0 character. The game is 1 year old.
