Odin Steel Reign question

So I am one of those crazy Characters who has an Alt. While I was on my tank last night, S'xn T'Kitchen, my other half called me to Odin. We had been looking for Odin explicitly, for a friend, and in short we ran across my Shiro Kuroh. How does Odin know to pick up a characters name. I know that Odin's lore mentioned something about a champion, or groups of champions can spawn him. I do have access on Shiroh to SCOB; and I'm not adding a spoiler for those who haven't seen the Cut scenes yet. I did turn in about 120k, worth of seals from gear last night, for crafting items etc. That said, I wonder how Odin knows to pop with a character name, and how it chooses it.

The Edit, I know it was my Shiro Odin had my tail.

He gets the name of the person who dealt the killing blow the last time he was up, at least that was what was told to me before.

Negative, I was not even on for that run. Note that being said, its been weeks since I fought him. I had searched a bit before posting and found no real evidence. I'm curious how to do it again.
