Do you feel Supras are worth it?

Have been occasionally try to get demimateria from artisan spectacles and it's so much work. The demimateria are also incredibly expensive and you need too many of them to make the stuff to trade in for the Supras. The Supras' stats surely don't represent a large enough jump in stats that warrants that much time, work or gil.

To be completely honest, the thought of having to make hundreds of spicy tomato relishes just to get a handful of demimateria sickens me to the point where I'm ready to quit. The artisan was a grindfest, but it involved no RNG. This whole desynthisizing system has taken a lot of fun out of the game for me. I love my crafting jobs, but I'm having a very hard time convincing myself that these Supras are worth the effort.

Knowing SE, supras will likely be required for 4 stars.

They're really not strictly necessary - you can still do all the 3* crafts without them. Given that they're only a 5 iLvl bump up from Artisan's/Forager's tools, I doubt they'll be really required for moving on to the next stage of crafting that we can safely assume will be showing up in 2.4. For those that end up crafting all day anyway (like someone in my FC), they'll go and get it - but it's really up to you if you want to keep making tokens for the spectacles.

They really don't seem worth it. Even with an excess of gil on hand and a high enough desynth skill to farm the demimateria, I still don't bother with it. Like another person said, you don't need it to hq 3star easily. Though you can probably just future proof yourself by picking one up now, I'd imagine the prices on demimateria falling at some point so it might be easier and cheaper to upgrade later.

I wonder if SE does some research and checks here and there how often elements they introduced are used from their players. I bet the FF14 population of crafters having at least one iLevel 75 tool is smaller than 1%. Sometimes they just overdo it with their requirements and Desynthesis needed for crafter tools is a good example of overdoing something.

And to make it even more ridiculous, you really do not need them by now. I can do all 3 star crafts for all DOH without them so it would be a Future investment. But who tells me that they aren't going to introduce ilevel 80 tools the next patch that make the actual ilevel 75 tools yet again obsolete? So I wait till either prices drop or wait till 2016 till I have two DOH high enough in Desynthesis so I can produce them on my own. Quite uninspiring options I must say.

When I look at what I have been crafting, I notice that it is only about Vanity or Housing items. The combat class items are completely obsolete when you have all your characters at Level 50 and equipped with Myth/Coil 1 gear at least. Even new players are not interested because they rather get iLevel 100 gear from CT2 or Strat tomes directly. Why on Earth do I need weeks/months of preperation to craft something like this? All items do not give any advantage. If there would be 3 star recipies that buff you (like FC buffs do), I would see the need of high requirements. But for Vanity and Housing...dunno. Instead of removing bees from Demon Wall and spoiling players with Echo in easy fights they should think about easing their requirements for high end DOH/DOL.

I found this thread very informative, because I've been debating if I want to continue making the supra or not. Like the artisan weapon is very good and not a bad requirement. This thing is like 1 mill + (depending on server) unless all self farmed but you could be seeing those fieldcraft 3's and master demimateras sell for lots of money vs this upgrade.

The only pro I can see having this is not paying for materias for overmelds (Which who knows how many you'll need to succeed) vs paying for a guarantee and needing less materia for your crafter.

The difference between the Supra and the Artisan is not that big. I guess I'll get it when SE decides to give the supra an additional upgrade.

Now? Not worth it as you can handle pretty much everything with your artisan weapon. What I'm doing now is keeping the demimaterias I manage to come across from desynth/MB in a safe box (if they are cheap), before they spike again in the near future.

But yea, the RNG, ughhh. The supra step completely negates any form of experience or gear.
