I play because I'm still holding out hope that FFXIV can turn into something amazing, and I want to be ready once that time comes. I'll likely make a final decision to stay or not once the game is no longer free to play and its foundation is set in stone.

i play the game so in the future i can have fun. Right now while I love the game i find the zones disappointing, and i mainly like scenery so i'm really just waiting for new zones.

But the reason i criticize the game a lot isn't because i dont like it or because i'm not having fun. Its because I want the game to succeed, and i see the dev team making countless mistakes over and over and over again. I'm guessing that its probably due to cultural differences but the dev team epically fails at marketing this game or making this game appeal to a mass western audience. I mean I run a marketing business and I study neuroscience and stuff so im prob a bit biased, but this game does the exact opposite of what it should do in almost every situation. And its like painful to watch it consistently fail over and over and over again.

for example:
Gil sinks cannot un-inflate a seriously inflated currency in a few months. Regardless of what the devs claim, any educated economist will tell you its not a possibility. It will take them months to balance out this games economy unless they introduce a new currency or diminish the importance of gil. (some ppl have max gil atm i believe).

this game lacks incentive or goals. There is no real epic gear that stands out, and almost everyone playing is already rank 50. theres nothing to really work towards, and there are no major benefits from having a high level job. For example in FFXI you couldn't go anywhere without high level, and there were lots of quests and things to do endgame. Here you can pretty well do anything other than endgame content. Simply adding in something like a dynamis weapon that takes 10,000 deaspected crystals would improve the games sucess drastically.

So yeah, i play for fun, but i criticize the game because the dev team is not successful and from a business perspective does not seem like they will be in the near future. However, Yoshi-P is kinda fresh, so maybe he will pick up some things once he no longer has to worry so much about fixing gameplay.

I'm a chick, and everytime I look at Trabia it also reminds me of labia LOL! Idk why ; ;. Its just the way its spelled I guess. Anyways all the XI players know why they tried to play this game at first, the reason why I kept playing was in hope it'd get better if they saw people log on lol. And to be fair, its gotten leaps and bounds better than action based sp, but there's still things that are wtf like "really no shield sp for turning in a quest, you just forgot" i get over it, but its kinda a bummer. They need to take their time and not listen to the MOAR CONTENT NOWWWW haters. Because some of it is obviously rushed and riddled with bugs and typos.

By all means if youre happy with mediocrity, more power to you. For the rest of us though, we'd like things to improve into a game that's worth paying for, because we loved FFXI (in my case) and would like for FFXIV to turn into a meaningful, fun experience. In order to do that, the absolute best way of getting voices heard by developers is by talking about what we think the issues are here, on the official forums.

And the kicker? It's working, as far as I'm concerned. 1.18 is proof enough of that. 1.19 will further support that. Those came into being because of all the complaints and criticism and player polls etc etc etc..

I'm going to be blunt and it's going to sound rude, but it's true. If you don't want to listen to complaining and criticism, don't read the threads that house complaints. That's it. /end
