I even more love it when you are the first party on the spot(you found it). You wait a few seconds for a few more people to come in and then pull it. And someone(who wasn't even there) just starts shouting for reseting and about damn ninjas etc... So yeah I only share A ranks with FC and LSs(I don't have a hunt LS). S ranks I will shout out and share in FC and LSs as well. B ranks now a days I just shout out in the zone. I especially love when people that have not found it start shouting when they will pull. That generally signals for us to pull it on the spot.

Nono, not negative, Ninjas are cool.

Wait for 2.4, everybody then wants to be one.

Ninja-ing is just a term that a group killed a hunt w/o telling anybody else. I personally don't see anything wrong with it, it's just a word used to describe the activity.

The "Hunt" is what it is for a reason.it means get out there and LOOK! not leech off of other people's findings through an LS and expect 50 people to wait on you and your potato of a computer to zone in.
Except the side activity the Hunt was meant to be became the only way to get allied seals, which in turn is the only way outside of coil to get sands and oil of time (RNG ST drops notwithstanding).

In the end, some have opted to show common courtesy instead of being cutthroat about it. Pray that SE places the alternate progression means back in dungeons and tomestones for the next patch, that way you can do hunts as you want instead of dragging down a ton of other people who simply want to gear up.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I wouldn't say people are being cutthroat about it, just a fair number of people (myself included) simply do not enjoy downing a mob meant for a full party at the most with the entire server. I've soloed (most of) an A rank before, and that was fun. Low manning these things is fun. I absolutely abhor the massive zerg rush A and S ranks usually are. I'm playing to enjoy myself, not to sacrifice fun so everyone can get credit. Oh, and I'm not going "There's a group of people around a Hunt, guess I'll pull", I'm going "There's a Hunt mob with nobody around it, guess I'll solo it".

Rewards really need to be adjusted and the number of mobs needs to be increased (return Bs to how they used to be, have 3 Bs per zone, 2 As and 1 S). Currently my only solid means of getting Allied Seals is through the Daily/Weekly marks, and that's just a whooping 274 Seals/week. Purely for vanity I need 10480, which is what? 38 weeks? Ducking ridiculous, and all because nobody at SE had the forethought to plan out the rewards properly.

Hunts were rushed out, horribly balanced, and overall just a mess. The content just gives me a headache at the moment.

Can't say I've seen SE say anything about what they intended with hunts, however, IMO if they didn't want it to be the way that it is (pro-community people with hunt LSes who announce hunt spawn locations and wait a few minutes for people to get there), then they would have made hunt mobs claimable by the initiating party and not attackable by everyone else. Instead, everyone that touches the mob gets credit and even a chance for a blood-splattered mark log to drop. Because of this, I personally see hunts as a community event and yes you should announce locations to people and give a short time for people to get there. You really don't have to wait that long, word travels across the server pretty quickly and it typically doesn't take long to reach a hunt mob's location. Fast pulling IMO is anti-community and detrimental to the server and I don't know why a person wouldn't care about that. HOWEVER, I certainly don't think it's OK for people to go ape-crap and flip out on people. I miss hunt marks all the time and I never say a single word.

With the hunts (havent done them decently yet, due being on ps3) I did 5 A ranks, because i stumbled upon them while they started (or lets face it they fall on my head while I do mining or something like that). For me it's laggy, never got a full reward on it because I dont want to drag down people with my laggines, so till I get new connection and ps4 I will not be doing them actively even if omg i want that gear like crazy for my summoner. (I keep doing the dailies and weeklies)

What I hate the most of the hunts is the drama that happens in the shouts! its hunts, for me it's first come first served? People complaining after the thing was up for 5 minutes and the people actually waited, be faster or don't hunt at all. I know with my loading screens and coming there it would take me ages, I try to arrive but that's it.

When I hunt the Bs i shout to ask if anyone else needs it, if not I just take it down, if yes, I tell them where I am and wait for them to come. Simple.

There is no challenge killing A ranks (even in small groups), and there is no benefit to killing them without waiting for people to show up. Everyone can get the same rewards. Hunts reward collaboration, not competition.

Ninjas mess with other people's hunting for no reason. It's not even selfish, just mean, because there is no additional reward for being a ninja.

I agree people shouldn't get too upset, although it's annoying if you ninja and don't tell people. Then you're wasting people's time hunting just to be a jerk. Some people maintain spreadsheets to let people know where to hunt, so ninjas hurt the community effort.

So, don't be surprised if people don't like ninjas, call them out, or blacklist them.

Instead shout in area chat and wait a bit. You don't even have to be part of hunt linksehlls. Active hunters in the area will see it, notify people, and in a couple minutes people will show up. It's easy to help instead of ninja.

While there's no set rule about The Hunt that forces you to shout/announce when you find a hunt monster with your group, there's also no point in introducing some kind of "competitive" aspect to the hunt by keeping it for yourself.

"I'm killing this monster with my group without telling anyone else, so other people don't get anything" doesn't make any sense and does not provide any kind of advantage or bonuses whatsoever.

In fact, it promotes bad behavior and calls up a vicious circle where everybody will try to "ninja this hunt monster because others are doing the same!".
Which means that less Allied Seals are created overall and thus, slowing down the global progression of the server.
It also obviously creates disparities between people able to keep up and ninja some monsters, and players who can't. This will then lead in SE having to take both side in consideration when creating new stuff, or, completly ignore the overstuff ninjas because they're just a minority.

So, in general, preventing others to grab some Allied Seals from a Hunt Monster you find is giving overall bad results.
But, again, nothing prevents you to do that. If you enjoy trolling and/or being selfish, even if it hurts you in the long run... well, feel free to do so. On the other side of the coin, you have to be prepared to be hated by a lot of people... but, that's your own choice.

I've seen a few instances of hunt entitlement recently which have surprised me, as the hunt community was pretty lovely on Zodiark until the most recent patch.

The first was due to Behemoth. He spawned, people wanted to kill it. During the fate a group found an A and waited, longer than usual it must be said, for Behemoth to be killed. Some people who didn't make the hunt starred raging. More than enough time was given to take Behemoth from about 60% to dead, teleport, run to the hunt and get full credit. I managed it after all.

The second was yesterday when someone raged that they'd missed another hunt mob (they showed up as one died then missed another called straight after). Their argument - I came here as soon as it was called in my LS.

To me, hunts are fair game. If someone wants to wait, that's their choice (I wait and will always call a pull time if I stumble on something). If I miss one, oh well, there are plenty more out there.
