This is wrong. Naoki has said he did not expect people to do what they did (hunt LS, alerting entire server), which clearly means they didn't intend for everyone, their fathers, and their dogs to join in on the hunt.
This is why they should consider opening up a public test server. The players would have found the weaknesses, and SE could have made some different choices before implementing the system. It's gotten slightly better than it was with this last patch, but the rewards are still too high and the content is still too polarizing. Some servers have organized themselves, but that even that has brought its own level of drama. If you are even perceived as twitching the wrong way you are banned and blacklisted. It's as much to keep people out as it is to bring people in.
I hope that they obsolete this content soon and come up with a better method of casual progression. This was too much, too fast, and it should never have trivialized the level of effort needed to gear out in coil-class equipment.
Yoshida's reaction completely baffles me. I am at a complete loss for words. Why would he NOT expect people to do this? Has he even considered the sociological aspects of these games? People grouping up with one another to overcome challenges is the entire point of these games. Hell, the problem isn't that people aren't competing for the hunts. The problem is that he didn't adjust things to account for the servers working as a collective community to help one another, which he should be encouraging at every turn. Especially when its on the same server. That's numero uno on making a good end game.
Not convinced, in same games the PTS is used as a stick by some community members to beat those who voice a complaint Oh well, if you played on the PTS we wouldn't have these problems.
I think it's a credit to the FFXIV players that, on the whole, we do try and co-operate![]()
Think about it, nobody wants to die, there's rules to this game son, I'm justified.
Yes, that's why I want to see Hunts adjusted?
Pretending everything is fine because the majority have all agreed on how to handle Hunts isn't helping, SE will just assume everything is fine while the voice of the minority is silenced by the majority claiming the minority are doing something wrong.
Like I said, there should be a middle ground so all kinds of people can enjoy the content, not just; "Join the Hoard of go f&ck yourself", like we practically have at the moment. The Mark Bills were a nice idea terribly implemented, 38 weeks just so I can glamour my Bard and Paladin? Someone at SE is off their rocker.

They wouldn't have to redesign a damn thing. It's probably more likely they wanted it to be like that.
Seems more like I just mistook your post as a response to my recent posts rather than a post directed at the OP. Apologies.
The issue isn't getting into a group, the issue is A Ranks have turned into something hundreds of people turn up for, when they were clearly only designed for a full party at most; even some of their promotional stuff before Hunts were released has A Ranks being soloed, not zerged by the server. Myself, and plenty of other people, simply do not find handling the content in that way to be remotely fun or interesting. I'd much rather solo an A Rank than gather with everyone else and blindly build enmity for credit. Joining a group is not going to allow the content to be enjoyed the way I want to enjoy it. Currently I can either simply not enjoy the content, or obtain the gear at an absolute snails pace.
If you're not doing Hunts the same way as everyone else you practically become a social pariah, all for the crime of wanting to enjoy the content. There is no middle ground, and there should be.

What annoys me with hunts, is how some people turn up 10mins later and whine in chat it got ninjad.
Prime example, last night n n-shroud girtab spawned, people waited five mins then pulled and it died.
I went to do dailies and 5mins later someone in shout said "pls reset" when I pointed out it was dead they screamed I was a ninja...
And moaned for a few minutes about how ppl like me destroy the game, I didn't even pull it lol

Before the recent hunt changes when we went out to kill hunt mobs none of us would call it out. We found one, we pulled immediately, and killed it. If others showed up in the process, fine. It's not my obligation to tell you where something is, nor is it my obligation to wait for unknown players, so you can get your loot for free. Even when I wasn't hunting I laughed when people complained about others not giving out pos or not waiting for more people to show up, or people not reseting the mob. Be happy you can touch my hunt cause in FFXI it was first come first served. FFXIV players are babied in every way.
